Dixit the board game

Has anyone played this?

Any tips? Been invited by a friend to join her and others playing this board game and I'm struggling a bit trying to grasp the rules.

As i understand it you all are dealt six picture cards and the storey teller picks a card and tells a story or sings a song based on the card and then other players have to try and best match what they think the card is using one of their own cards which best matches what they think is the storey tellers card.

So how do you get a winner out of the game?

The aim of the game is for at least one player to guess the card that you put down to match your word/phrase, but not for all of them to guess eg. if all or none of the players guess the card that you put down for the word/phrase then you get no points. You have to be subtle but not too subtle!

Other players also get points for guessing the card that the original player put down, and if a player guesses another player's card instead of the correct card. We play an extra element in which we put a random (wild) card from the deck in, and the original player has to try and guess which is the wild card. The original player gets a point if they get it right and it gives them something to do on their turn!

Sorry if it's all a bit confusing as it is hard to explain. There should be a rule book.

Blimey it does sound complicated. Looking forward to it though, it sounds like you have to use your imagination.

Never heard of that game before until now but there is a board game going around like the version of mononly I have not played it yet but it looks really good fun

Aw thanks Lozzles I've managed to find some rules and printed them out. They seem to be easier to follow because there is an example set and you get to see the cards.

Personally I'd have said "leap of faith for a more colourful future" or "the grass is always greener on the other side".
Ooh I'm really looking forward to playing this game with my friends.

Update. Had a great evening, it was really good fun! Love to play it again. The scoring is tricky to get your head around though.
