im hoping someone out there might be able to help!

does anyone know the specifications (eg thickness, weight) for the membrane laid between the limestone drainage layer & the surface?

(we are having a woodfibre surface if this makes any difference)

thanks in advance!

It needs to be a geotextile membrane, thicknesses range from 2mm to 8mm approx. If using sharp stone under surface probably best to use thicker membrane but it will also cost more. Contact local construction retailer and ask for Geotextile road membrane. Terram is commonly used.

Thats correct. You need 2 types of geo-textile. On the bottom between the ground and your limestone you need to use a woven geo-textile to prevent blocking of drains etc. On the top of the limestone between the limestone and the woodchip you use a non-woven membrane to prevent the limestone surfacing and also to prevent the limestone becoming clogged. The non-woven membrane also grips the surface better preventing it slipping when ridden and tears easier in the event of a horse catching its foot on it.

Hope this helps
