Morning everybody.

I've finally registered as a forum member, have always referred to this forum when needing an outside opinion but now need actual input!!

I'm looking for DIY for my 15ish yr old mare.

She is just coming into normal work after a tendon injury.

We are hoping to find a friendly yard which has

Good turn out (preferably not on steep hills),
Either small groups or individual,
A Bring in time that I can easily manage after work,
Possibility of 24hr TO in summer (although this is not essential)
Airy stables (as my 'easy cob' also has COPD)
Trailer parking
Sandschool
Allows dogs (although again if THE yard comes up and no dogs allowed no biggie)
Allows outside instructors.
Possible help for when ill, or on holiday or I want the much needed lie-in!!

I live in the riddlesdown area so any where within reachable distance.

It seems that it's hard to come across these yards unless you know the right people!!

Only wanting to move as I've been struggling with current bring in time of 4pm for a while.

I'm going to stay put until I find the right yard, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance peeps

I used to ride over Riddlesdown when at Selsdon! I know it was years ago but is Kingswood Lodge still doing liveries? There also used to be a yard up the Whyteleafe road; further afield was the old hospital yard in Caterham and Huntersfield over Banstead way. As it was decades ago, they've probably all been built on by now!

Are you at Birchwood by any chance? There is Church Farm which you probably know, when I was there they didn't do basic DIY, it included haylage straw and turn outs so bit more expensive.
There is Hazelwood which is behind Chelsham Common past Farleigh Court. Nice little yard with owner on site who will help out. Fields are a little walk down the road but its a quiet road. No dogs though as owner has cats.
I left the area last year but there was a new yard opened up on the road that goes across Farleigh Common, sorry can't remember what its called but I think it was previously a farm. Not sure what facilities it has though.

I saw on the Saddlery & Gun Room website - don't know which yard it is or how old the ad is though:
Stable for rent DIY or Assisted livery in Warlingham/Chelsham Surrey
Indoor sandschool, set in 26 acres, good turnout, friendly yard, owners on site.

Or there is Orchard Farm Stables on Southfields Road but the fields are on hills.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your replies. Unfortunately having had my mare for 10yrs I've been to a handful of the yards around the area.
Still no joy in finding my girl her new home :(

I used to work at Kingsmead Equestrian center in warlingham who had DIY liveries, there was also a field beside who did grass livery.

Though I was there in 1983 so-things change but Kingsmead are on Facebook

Hi again everyone,

I have had no luck finding my girl a forever home and am starting to worry I won't be able to find her somewhere.
We are now going to start looking out towards Banstead if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received xx

Angela has now sold the yard to Fiona Barlow, I'm go up there to do the occasional repair. The yard has vastly improved, you won't recognise it!
It has everything the OP needs but they have a little dog there who's a bit nervous so I don't know if other peoples dogs are allowed although I have taken one of mine there when giving demonstrations on saddlery so it's worth asking.

I'd recommend Brakes livery yard which is next to Belmont prison, so out Banstead way. Excellent turnout, relatively cheap livery, owners are friendly and the stables and facilities are good too. PM me if you want the number or more info.
