Hi ya

I am possibly (good chance) moving to Plymouth at the end of January and would like to find somewhere nice for my little mare (in siggy on right) I would like a nice quite friendly place where everyone 9x's out of 10 get on.

Would like perhaps a school good grazing for when she does go out...she will need a very small space for her 1st couple of months being out and increasing as she recovers.

How much would you reckon the rent is a month for DIY and hay, shavings etc?.... as I have no idea what the prices are like down there.

Thanks

hey K

Shavings are about £6.40 per bale
haylage is about £4.50 for a small bale and £21 for a large bale (large bale lasts my 3 a week )

Will try and get you that number for the place in staddiscombe. But am more than happy to take you around places to have a look if you want?

wow that is cheap..to what i'm paying anyway..sounds like I shall be saving myself quite a bit in general then, what are the livery costs like around there as an idea?

Oh and yes please for the offer to help that would be excellent...didnt realise it was you til I saw your siggy again...LOL i am having a very blonde night tonight...

just to confuse people I changed my username LOL

I think Court Gates was about £25 a week DIY but it masy be a good idea to check on that.
The other place just down the road was a bit less but you have to buy in all of your own shavings/haylage etc

Courtgates is owned by my cousin! There is also a yard at Down Thomas (found it on yell.com) called Andrews, sounds worth a look.

kezz, it does depend where you are going to be living/working. The hacking around staddiscombe won't be great, so you may do better on the 'moor' side of Plymouth, or towards Plympton/Lee Moor, even Ivybridge.

This yard only offers full livery, and is a bit of a drive from Plymouth, but the hacking will be fab and full might be good if you're going to be busy starting a new job? http://www.chestonfarm.co.uk/html/livery.html

Ahh thanks guys...cant afford Full Livery...and I like DIY.

Umm I believe it will be around the Plymstock area??....Naval MQ's but have heard there are a few of them around too...travelling to the yard isnt so much of an issue as long as its worth it and she's going to be happy and safe and me happy....

Would like somewhere cheap enough for me to get a new horse in a few months time when I'm settled in.

Thanks again everyone, I'll be happy to speak to anyone and visit any yard so I can see what its all like.

Used to keep my horses in staddiscombe many years ago and the hacking isn't too bad! Many beaches near to it

I know of a few around that area and also up on the moors so if you want any more info on them, then PM me!

Plymstock and Staddiscombe are like the same place so you'll be near to them!
