I'm planning to move in with my OH in Corstorphine next summer, and have been advised by a few people on here that I should really be looking now for somewhere to move Dylan to. So ... does anyone have any suggestions of DIY livery yards in the West Lothian/Edinburgh area?

Ideally, I'd like -
* Within 20/30 minutes of Corstorphine (current yard is 20 mins from current home)
* Decent hacking
* Year round turnout (he's currently out 24/7 in summer and stabled at night in winter)
* An arena

Any suggestions will be gratefully received, and repaid with cookies :) I'm going through to stay with OH this weekend, think I'll ask round local tack shops on Monday while he's at work.

Thanks x

if you don't mind negotiating FRB then my yard is about twenty five mins north of you. Indoor and outdoor arenas, year round turnout etc PM me if you want more details

FigJam on here keeps her horse at a yard this side of the bridge, I'm sure if you PM her she will give you details. There is a DIY yard on the A71 just past the Dalmahoy. Has a phone number by it but not sure of it's name, can try to check at some point for you?

When I was looking for holiday livery for my 2 someone PM'd me details of a nice yard, but it was ages ago now. Fairly sure I deleted the PM but will check, it was probably a good area for you.

TBH I think crossing the FRB four times a day would be a bit of a nightmare (sorry PNAP!)

There's also a yard near Kirkliston that would probably be fine for you.

Sorry being a bit vague about names, will try to remember more details on all of these ;)

What about Edinburgh Equestrian Centre? The hacking's superb, all off-road. There are various arenas and XC etc. Would have thought you'd get there in 20-25 mins from Corstorphine.

would Kinleith livery yards up behind Currie suit you. It is at least at your end of town and no need to fight the bypass traffic at rush hours.

i second edinburgh equestrian centre fab facilities and off and on road hacking depending on where you want to go and you should be able to get there in about twenty mins depending on traffic :)

Sorry but EEC to Corstorphine would only be 20 mins at about 11pm at night! And even that would involve some speeding! I work at the Gyle and to get round the bypass at anything like normal horse hours would be an average of 45 mins. Luckily I now live West of the city, which is a much easier commute.

Agree it's a lovely setting, but unless you want to spend your life in a traffic jam, I'd avoid :(

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, have got a shortlist of 3 that I want to go and see (next weekend looks likely), but I'll phone them all and ask questions during the week.

Narrowed down to -

Blackburn House (nr. Bathgate)
Westmuir (nr. Kirkliston)
Midkinleith (Currie)

Anyone got any opinions on these/any other suggestions for me?

I need a livery yard 15-20 mins from corstorphine too! my horse stays in bathgate and its a niiiiightmare to see him, i need one that no more than £25 a week, im really desperate though, because he is a bit of a nutter and needs everyday care which i cant give him because i cant drive, or even if there was one on a bus route i could do, if ANY information at all, email me on emma-louisekennedy@hotmail.co.uk thanks! xx
