I'm currently horse hunting, and have some lovely horses to see over the next few weeks, so will be looking for a home for the chosen one soon. I have a couple of options, but I'm sure there are places I've missed in the local area. Id be really grateful for any info about yards in the Maidenhead/Cookham general area. Need a decent school and plenty of turn out.

Already looking at Whiteplace Farm and Hollands Farm - but have drawn a bit of a blank otherwise.

It's based up a single track road on Pinkneys Green. Hall Place Vets are on site.
The hacking is good. It has a school, not top of range but adequate.
Run by a farmer who seems not to get that involved, it's pretty much pure DIY but there are a couple of freelancers that provide services if needed.
Turnout fairly good, small groups. Think there were a few days in the winter they had to stay in but on the whole they could go out. Overnight turnout is available through the summer.

I have a friend there and she has generally been very happy. The yard is fairly basic but adequate and well priced for the area. Worth a look.

Thanks for that - I'll give them a buzz. You don't happen to know how big their boxes are do you (I'm looking at 17hh+ horses!) I thought I'd found the perfect place, but they don't have any of their bigger boxes available at the moment...

That you would definitely need to check as the bulk of the boxes there are on the smaller side. I think they have a few bigger boxes but I imagine they are fairly sought after

Lol I didn't know you are buying? We do have a space on our yard in flacks ell but think someone who came to look at the weekend is taking it though. I know several of the yards round cookham area - if you PM me your email address I can give you the info I have found on lee farm, Hollands (used to be a livery there) and white place, and a few others too. Know people who are/were on all of those yards!

Don't bother with Woodlands Farm in Cookham. The owner treats the liveries as an 'inconvenience'. Has restricted turn-out 4mths of the year. Makes what is essentially a 'hobby' a complete nightmare to cope with. Will 'bill' for everything to anything possible (example, electric went up, so did the rental, when good management would of already taken yearly expenses into consideration). Charges IF you supply your own bedding, hay. Adds extortionate amounts to bedding plus VAT (you can only buy from him, I.e NO bringing in your own!). Does not provide a 'sick paddock' for when your animal is under vet care. Never used the 'so-called' cross country course (sheep are always grazing it). If you have a minor grevience, you are given a warning, or just told to leave. If there was another yard in Cookham Dean with good turn-out, then a number of people would NOT hesitate to leave. Yes it is a nice yard, but only because of the other liveries!! Many a time I have gone home crying over the unnecessary stress caused. SO if anyone can suggest another yard, please share the details!!!!!!!
