DIY Livery - price and facilities

£45 Per horse per week

Facilities:
- Large indoor school
- Large covered arena
- MAHOOSIVE outdoor (can only use these 3 when they are free which isn't that often)
- Use of the show jumps
- Horse walker
- Stable
- 1 Bale of flax
- Unlimited hay
- Feed (main ring blue, alfa a and hi fi)
- Lorry/trailer parking if we need it
 
£23 per week...

- stable
- individual paddock per horse (I've got two so they go out together and I've got a spare paddock to rotate
- 20x40 manege with lights
- Use of limited jumps
- Covered horsewalker
- Lorry parking
- Haylage can be added for £6.50pw unlimited
- off road hacking in summer
- Good security
- Secure tack room
 
mine is £90 a month. (about £22.50 a week)

for that we get

a stable
grazing (mares and geldings seperated grazing)

extra costs are

menage - £5 per month per horse to cover pole breakages / broken post and railing and general maintainance.

lorry / trailer parking - £5 a month

hay - £3 a bale
straw - 50p a bale
haylage - £25 for a large bale.


edited to say that we do have very nice off road hacking too!

Plus the owner would happily feed them for me if i couldnt get down one day, shes a star

depends on where you are in the country too - not sure what prices are your way... i used to pay 90 a month a stable and a share of 3 acres in herts
 
Am currently on a livery yard which is:

£35 per week + £7 per week for school If you use it

-Unlimited shavings (although they are quite dusty)

I am moving this weekend to rent a yard to myself which has three stables, about three acres, good storage and good hacking and that is £100 per month. This place doesnt have a school but does have unlimited turnout which was most important to me so i am sacrificing the school for the sake of my ponies!

I would say that's a fair price. I charge my DIY livery £20 per week, and for that she gets a stable, individual paddock, tack room, use of school, and I will either turn out or bring in for her - she can only get up once a day because of the shifts she works. I think its a reasonable price and she seems happy.
 
I pay £32 per week per horse. For that we get:
Over sized stable in large American barn
Use of the 20 X 60me menage (outdoor but very well flood lit)
Large turn out fields
Use of jumping paddock
Use of all show jumps
water, electricity
Mile and miles of off road hacking

We can also buy shavings for £5.50 per bale and hay for £4.00 per bale, which sounds a lot, but the floods last summer around here ruined the hay crop so everywhere is expensive
Discounted lessons with yard owners who are an ex-olympic showjumper of ours and lady who won HOYS in working hunter classes, so both very handy perople to have around!

So much also comes down to the quality of the facitlites as well as what they are.

Horse paddocks can come with brand new stud fencing (yeah right!), down to 2 strands of saggy barbed wire. Grazing can be perfectly maintained or shared with loads of other horses animals. There are arenas and arenas and also the quality of the stables etc etc. I think it almost impossible to set a price just from a list of facilities. A lot of people think what I pay is extortionate, but I'm quite happy and canot beat it locally for what I want.

I pay £54 per week for assisted DIY,
Individual turnout, with horsemesh and electric fencing.
Large floodlit school with reasonable surface (better than most!)
Yard feed and turnout AM
Unlimited Haylage
1 bag shaving per week (stable has mats)
Horse walker.
Electricity and Water!
Direct forest access with No roadwork and unlimited outriding

The yard is always full and normally has a waiting list!
 
I pay £20 a week which includes a fair sized leaky stable with dim lights, and turn out in a mega mega boggy field (all water from whole yard runs into my field!).
It is £2 an hour to use the tiny arenas (my 16.3 struggles to get round either!)
Hay, bedding, lorry parking and everything else are extra.
I cant wait to move to my friends yard when it is done.

What would you all pay for:
Large stables with rubber matting, auto drinkers and hay bars. Lots of (rotated) turnout, use of olympic sized outdoor arena, plenty of hacking, secure yard with own tack room etc?
And use of horse walker at an extra charge?

£20-£22 a week without horse walker.
 
I pay £170 pm (!!!!!!) but they do get turnout in winter of at least half a day, the YO helped me break in my youngster and the school is always always rideable, and it is a small quiet yard and in Herts, and the other peeps are lovely, so since I got Horse no1 8 years ago I have never moved.

my current yard is £20 a week including

12x13 stable
60x30 outdoor school with ok floodlights
9 arces of grazing

the yard i move to on saturday is £24 a week including

12x12 stables
30x30 outdoor school with floodlights
use of jumps
50 acres of grazing for 5 mares

plus amazing road hacking

but i have to say both yards are super friendly which i think accounts for more sometimes than facilities
 
I'm in London/Surrey and so its more expensive than most, for £120 a month (£30 a week!) I get:
decent sized stable
field, mares and gelding seperated, small herds (3 other geldings and 6 mares), year round turnout but they all come in at night during the winter
water
electricity
secure tack room
lots of off road hacking
outdoor school (not very good though, theres a better 1 down the road for £10 an hour)
YOs husband comes in and feeds them all at 7.30am so they're ready to be ridden/turned out when we get there and they all get fed at the same time which is good.
There is always someone to bring in/turn out if you can't get to the yard, its really friendly as its small.
