What would you pay for DIY? Or what do you currently pay? And what do you get?

In the past I have paid £35 per week // £140 per month for a stable (of fair size), rubbish grazing, use of arena whenever I could (barely could get an hour in) and the odd bringing in on a morning.

What do you think I should've gotten for that price? Or was this reasonable?

Opinions welcome :)

There was a thread on this the other day.

I pay £25 per week per horse for a gorgeous indoor stable with rear opening windows. Amazing, 20+ acres of mud-free, year round grazing on flat fields (no small paddocks!) and unlimited use of our newly resurfaced floodlit outdoor. The yard has 4 horses, including 2 of my own, so it's very quiet and chilled out.

Depends very much on the area. But to be honest, if people are paying it, then its obviously reasonable.

I pay £130 per month for a fully matted large stable, lots of of grazing, floodlit school and rubber surfaced gallops. I'm in the south

I was paying £27/week for open barn stabling (matted), individual electric fence paddocks, outdoor school - use of show jumps in a field in the summer and small xc schooling course extra. Fabulous hacking

Now £25/week for American barn stabling, 24/7 summer turnout, 60 x 25 outdoor school, walker and small indoor school. Nice hacking.

TBH it varies so much from one end of the country to the other, what people are paying in another area is irrelevant. Also YOs experience is a factor - if you are an experienced and helpful owner people can ask for help you can charge a premium. I charge £140 pcm as a basic, for grazing (24/7 all year round weather permitting) use of stable, use of manege and ad lib home grown hay/haylage as needed. I will help people learn how to lunge, long rein, ground handling etc if they ask, and only expect them to attend once a day unless they want to do more - I'll add water to soaking feeds etc but the rest, including poo picking, is up to them

Location can vary the price hugely.basically though you get what you pay for compare yards in the save area and you will be able to tell why some are cheaper then others!

Some lack of facilities etc which won't bother everyone depending on what their needs are but then other things will be of an issue like bad land management etc.

I pay £110 per month for DIY with all year turnout (24/7 in spring to autumn). Large American barn stable, use of floodlit school, with on site instructor and low key events. Flexibility when I need it. Great hacking. No poo picking as fields are chain harrowed.

This is in Wiltshire
