Anyone made one?

My boy hates being in, in the summer but has no shade in his field. I can't afford to buy a field shelter so interested to hear of anyone's DIY field shelters... pics would be even better!!

Look into a heavy duty carport...I think Dancover make them.

When I bought my green Equine protech shelter...the instructions with it said 'carport assembly' !!!!

They are much cheaper than the equine shelters

Round bales of straw, chicken wire round them to stop horses eating them, then scaffolding poles and sheeting on top. Works a treat.
You can make it whatever size you want!

I just suggested a gazebo attached to each corner of a fence post . But got abuse cause apparently its a terrible idea lol !

I really like this idea... do you have to stack bales on top of one another so it's tall enough (horse is 15.3hh)... have no concept of how hig a round bale is, i've never used them!!

In that case if you don't already use them might be costly to buy enough just for a shelter. We used to have what was originally the body of an old horse box, & seen a few people using old wooden trailers minus the base & ramp. Or fence posts with mdf or something as a roof.

I stack then two high. Three sides, four wide on each side. Have them wrapped and they have lasted 2 years. but Chicken wire is essential or they will eat it! Did have a proper roof on it but gales took it off, over house. Road and into other field!!!
