DIY ribbon browbands - help?

I have given up trying to find an extrabighead size browband that I like and have decided to attempt to make one. Does any one know how to do the diamond pattern ones??

Or at least how many bits of ribbon you start off with?? I might be able to work it out if someone gives me some clues!

I can do the sharkstooth pattern, but I want to do black and lilacy silver, so I think it would look better with black background, lilac diamonds.....

Although... still not sure re colours either.... will that look ok on him (see pic <-)? I dont want to go too bright or girly or sparkly cos he is a big boy!

I used those instructions to make my one:

I used red, white and glittery silver ribbon.

that looks pretty good especially for a first attempt. I have a friend who makes amazing browbands and sells the to top show riders ill try and ask her next time i see her.

I dont have a problem with size im just fussy on the colours great link, Im off to the sewing shop for some ribbon at the weekend to make my own.
