Hi all ! I’ve got a spare stable that doesn’t get used. I’m thinking about making this into a washroom. We have a portable equine gas shower and in winter my boy struggles with his skin if left sweaty/damp so looking to make a solarium to dry post showering but to also keep them warm when clipping ? I’d buy one if they weren’t so expensive.

If you’ve made one I’d love to see pictures and to know a rough price ?

I have 2 patio heaters in my grooming area.

Similar to this shopping.webp

One on one side of the apex roof and one on the other. They really belt heat out, make them steam LOL. The horses all love them. About £35 each, 1,300 kw so not too pricey for the electric either.

Sadly, I now have heavier stamps of horses who seem immune to the cold. It was useful when Rigs had colic though. Very soothing. Also great when H has a full clip.

That’s brilliant I’d not considered patio heaters !! Do they use much electric ? I’m thinking keeps them warm whilst clipping too !

Hi, this was a thread I was following before and I'm hoping to make something similar. I think this give a good idea of the type of frame to make for it. https://forums.horseandhound.co.uk/threads/homemade-solarium.805660/

I have seen people mentioning to use clothes rack pulley system also. I purchased 3 of the kerbl heat bulbs and their holders but I haven't used them as I have no electricity in the stables yet. I also ideally would prefer 6 and make a frame similar to the one on the link above.
