I am currently on a DIY yard and have only ever been on this yard but I am considering looking into other yards in the area and just wondered how much others pay and what you get for your money (facilities, up keep of things, rules etc.)

£15 per week (field, stable, use of arena and jumps and a farm ride in the summer).

Hay/ straw available on site (Hay £3.75p per bale and Straw £2 per bale).

No maintenance as the owners deal with that.

£25 per week including hay and some feed (chaff, nuts and sugarbeet). No maintenance as YO does that and my horse is looked after when i am away.
I work at the yard so im there for farrier and vets visits but we also hold others and do fly repellant, rug changes, extra feeds etc free of charge.

Mine has just changed.
Was £146 per month including hay (got stable, field, outdoor school, little XC course, indoor school that's too small for anything other than lunging, nice hacking round the farm). I bought feed and bedding on top.

Now has changed to £125 per month but we have to buy our own hay (we can chip in to a bulk order but we have to pay for it)
No maintenance - just poo picking.

New yard;

£16 p/w with full use of floodlit manege, jumps and 24/7 turnout in Summer with split herds (around 7-8 geldings/mares per field).

Hay available onsite - £3 per bale (fixed price that doesn't change in respect of supply and demand). Locally hay is £6 per bale so massive saving.

Previous yard;

£21.65 p/w with use of outdoor riding paddock, a few jumps and 24/7 365 days turnout in mixed herd (around 30 horses) with open access to 2-3 fields per rotation.

Both yards are on the same road if that helps!

I pay 45 par week. That includes stable and turnout, all you can eat hayledge, 2 bales of straw or 1 large bag of shavings. Morning and night feeding. Turn out and bring in, plus rug changes. They will be put on the horse walker whenever requested and will deal with the farrier for u so I don't have to leave work. And an on site fantastic instructor and saddler!!

Use of the 60 x 40 outdoor all weather arena and 20 x 40 indoor school, full set of show jumps, plus plenty of hacking and cross county course. YO also takes us to comps in the wagon!

Full livery is an extra 3 pound a day...

I love my yard, it's so friendly and only 10 liveries so no fighting for space to ride! I'm very lucky!

£110 a month. Total diy no assistance unless emergency, get stable and very good grazing. Electric fencing and automatic water trough. No school but good hacking. Nice big stables, feed room and tack room.

£90 per month. This includes stable, tack room, winter paddock & summer paddock for mine 1 and 1 other, can be out 24/7 365. Also have fantastic hacking, school to ride in, fencing all post and rail, and where its not its electrified. If our horse is known to damage fence, then we pay, if not, he sorts it out [=

Love my yard, only 5 horses there including mine [=

£33 PW

Incl stable and turnout, hay, haylage and straw + un-limited use of all facilities which is a walker, indoor and outdoor school and plenty of off road hacking.

They will also have them on full livery for £4 a day if i'm away.

ETA: that's un-limited hay, haylage and straw!

I believe it very much depends on where you are. I am currently at Hartpury college. For my one pony to be on DIY next to the campus on a separate privatley owned yard I pay £38 per week, inludes all hay, straw and turnout, however its not that smart for the price we pay and maintenance is a bit hit and miss. On top I then pay £20 a week to use Hartpury facilities which are amazing but that brings the total upto £58 per week!!!!!

At home in Somerset its £10 per week for a stable and field but nothing included but use of school and jumping field and no real maintenance from the owner!! shows the difference in price for where you are.

£16 a week for stable 365 t/o small school (not very well looked after + no lights) all post and rail paddocks of which you get your own.

I pay £25 a week for stable and turnout (24/7 in summer, daily in winter), use of 2 schools (1 is always available, the other is used for lessons and can be booked out) and use of 1-3 fields (depending on livestock) in the summer. All maintenance is taken care of by YO.

22 pounds a week, stable, all year turnout, feed storage, use of school anytime, great hacking, no extra charge for full livery if I go on holiday, will always contact me if anything is wrong. Bring in horse if its raining, no extra charge for anything.

Just under £100 per month stable, tack room, use of any of the three outdoor schools or the indoor, one outdoor has a range of show jumps. Paddock some off road hacking.

£105 a month, this includes stable, use of all facilities (indoor and outdoor school, full set of showjumps and a set of working hunter fences), Own Paddocks (one for summer and one for winter, all fenced with electric tape), own lockable storage room for feed/hay/bedding etc, They can live out 24/7 in Summer if required but they come in on a night in Winter however the price does include morning turnout in Winter.

There's Great hacking in the area, we run our own Riding Club so we have regular shows and competitions on-site and the YO is amazing (as are the other liveries).

I hate reading these as it makes me sick! At home (ayrshire) I paid £22 a week for stable, own field, indoor and outdoor school, riding fields, excellent hacking, maintenance well taken care of but no staff to assist although I'm sure something would've been sorted in an emergency. There were two pallets for bedding and hay per stable.

On contrast I now pay £40 a week for stable, field, indoor and outdoor school and hay/haylage and straw. No staff to assist and maintenance patchy and takes a long time. One horse can't eat hay or haylage and I'm allergic to straw but price non negotiable.

£22.50 a week
- Stable
- Grazing (daytime in winter but no time restrictions so long as in overnight, 24/7 in summer)
- Indoor and outdoor school (indoor is small and square but meant I could exercise every day during the snow!)
- Jump paddock in summer
- Winter dressage series
- Summer yard show
- YO does maintenance although if she needs a hand I don't mind mucking in - when it comes to broken fences it's usually my Titch that has done it!
- Hay, haylage and straw available on site at cost. I'm using 2009 hay which is perfect for my two as they only need something to keep their gut going, and it's not costing me much at all!

£35 a week for a stable, turnout and use of field!

However with it just being YO and I we have "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" agreement which means that if one of us can't make it then the other does the yard. Also it is just blissfully peaceful and quiet! there is good hacking and a XC course literally next door!

£30 for stable, turnout and use of school (20X60 not the best surface). Each livery has bought part of a jump and share, have to pay £1 for the lights but it is floodlit. Its not the cheapest in the area though.

£36 a week, stable, all year turnout, muck removal, trailer storage, use of school. Straw £3 and haylage/hay jobs extra. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive, but didn't think it was bad for around Epping forest.

£15 /month for that we get stable, all year turnout, arena, and tack room. YO will do rug changes, turnout/ bring in, feed, look after if we are away. She does all checks throughout the day.
Buy the haylage/straw from YO and it is dirt cheap £1.50 bale of straw and £1 a day for as much haylage as needed.

I'm on £30 per week which includes stable, very good grazing, morning feed and net put in, brand new out door arena and unlimited haylege.

at a previous yard i payed £165 p/cm for assisted DIY they didnt do plain diy, mine got 4 hours turn out a day :/ mine didnt have a big enough stable for his size but that depended on when you came and how big the horse was and large indoor school and also good hacking... but now i have moved to a yard where i pay £80 p/cm for large stable with 24hr grazing on 2 acres to himself with amazing grass but no school but a schooling area and good hacking x

15 pounds p/w with good stable, winter and summer turnout (+ lami fields), own pallett for hay and straw storage, space for horsebox storage, electric, water (hose and bath), indoor school (rubber floor) and recently renovated large sand outdoor with use of jumps. Hacking on and off road for miles.
YO also does lessons, including use of her own WH and SJ fields. Morning feeds will also be done if asked. We pay extra (2.50 for half hour supervised I think) for the horse walker, and pay for our own hay, straw and haylage. Large yard so always lots of people and support!

Omg I feel like I'm getting done over but ours is best of a bad bunch. I'm on DIY.

£30 a week for stable, hay or haylage, field & dusty tiny indoor I can't ride in. Hacking is all roadwork.

Outdoor school isn't flood lit, not to be lunged in, is £4 per half hr, in which time you have to put any jumps you use up & away in aswell so not usually worth getting more than 1 out (we pay for our jumps through our yearly yard show charged at riding club rates).

Turnout £1.50 or £2 if field is further away
Rug change £1.50
Put ready made feed in or net £1 each
Skip out £5
Trailer storage £4 a week
Horse walker £4 half an hour
Straw bale (small) £3.75
If you don't buy bedding from there you have to rent a shed at £1.50 a week to put it in - not the barn

We also have to sweep the yard on a rota basis or we get charged.

CCTV is installed for penny pinching purposes not thieves eg. If you book the indoor & don't use it its wound back & charges you £1. If you run over in the outdoor by a few mins or putting jumps away charges you for next half an our.

We never see the yard owner! Lol Bills pinned on the board that's it.

Can't find anywhere else to go!

clearly I am in the wrong part of the country.

I pay £162.50 per month. Stable, field (with herd), two outdoor menages, horsewalker, lunge pen.

No hay or bedding included.

I pay £200 per month DIY, that's for 4 stables inside my own american style barn, locked tackroom, as much hay storage as I need (usually 300 bales at a time) 5 acres of grazing just for my horses (although pretty poor grazing) small grass paddock for riding/schooling, pretty good hacking nearby, can ride in fields and can turn out 24/7 365 if I want to.

Maintenance, hubby does pretty much everything as it's an old farm and owner isn't horsey so doesn't do any of the maintenance.
