Found lovely yard that I really like but its 11miles away. Now she will be grass livery so I could check once a day as she will not be hard fed.

How far do you travel daily to yards? I work in the opposite direction which is a 80round trip but that's only 4 days out of 9.

I'm trying to justify the milage here. I am on a waiting list for yard 2 min away so it won't be hopefully through winter.

Home to yard = 10 miles and 10min travelling time (in a morning we go up at 4:30am)
Work to yard = 20 miles and 25min travelling time if i leave work at about 4:50pm

I go up twice a day, everyday

Yard is around 8 miles from home = 15/20 minutes to go there in mornings on route to work

Work is a further 14 miles = 25/30 minutes traffic dependant.

I visit 2 x a day at present Mondays - Fridays and once a day at weekends

Less than a mile :)
I must admit time is very precious to me and I will put up with slightly less than ideal yard rather than travel more than 10 mins, as I am generally there twice a day!

My 3 are at a gorgeous livery yard 9 miles from home. As the crow flies it is only probably two but I have to drive to Bridgnorth's bridge to cross the river Severn. I did keep them at a yard that was only two miles down the road for a year but the hacking this side of the river is poor. The yard they are at now is fantastic... lovely people and great facilities for a very competitive price so it's worth the drive. I work at home so I don't have any commuting on top of that either.

My yard is about 15miles away and takes about 20ish mins if I dont get stuck behind a tractor. Then to work its a further 5 miles. I wish the yard was closer to home but nowhere near has good facilities.

Yard is smack bang in the middle of work and home which is 6 miles.
Where I used to live it was 11miles away. I worked at the yard though so it wasn't bad at all.

Yard is less than a mile, when we were looking to buy it is the reason we brought this house! I am extrememly fortunate that my job is based at a building next to the yard, and I also do some work from home. I am aware that this is unusually lucky, next step is to get somewhere where they can live at home. Hopefully in a few years time we will be able to live the dream (ablit, while the horses live in luxary and we continue our tescos value existance!!).

stupidly, stupidly far [ but given i live in centre of Leicester - this is really no surprise] - 40 mile round trip from home to yard - do it once a day [ yard offers supported DIY] - currently my petrol spend is my biggest outgoing after my mortgage:(

Yard is 13 miles from home and 14 miles from work i go to the yard twice a day, lots of travelling but the yard is worth it, if that makes sense

Home - Yard = 1 mile - Twice a day every day
Home - Work = 4 miles - Sadly twice a day Mon-Fri ;)

I am really really lucky and greatful :D

About 6 miles each way. I'm on assisted DIY so go only once a day.

I have in the past looked at yards further away but driving a bit 4x4 it would have to be a pretty special yard to justify the increased diesel cost.

Less than 2 mins away! Although up until yesterday she was 20 mins away. Having an extra 20 mins in bed this morning was bliss!! Don't think I'll move that far away from home again, so much nicer knowing she's only at the bottom of the road.

Currently 5 miles and I go twice a day. Used to be 10 miles but apart from the cost of petrol, in an emergency it took much longer to get there.
My next house will be bought after I've got the right livery, unless I find something with a few acres at the right price.(Probably a shack.) Good houses are two a penny, good livery is much harder to find.

17.5 miles from home to horse, 9 miles from horse to work - and back because I go twice a day. My petrol bill is over £200 a month now :( I have to see her twice a day as she needs medication, but I wouldn't only go once a day anyway as that's too much time for her to get herself into trouble IMO. Oh yes, and I need to put fly spray on twice a day for maximum effectiveness too. Not forgetting the fact that I LIKE seeing my horse and spending some time with her (she's retired). Does make for very long days though.

About 4 miles which is 7 mins drive on a good day. The office is 4 miles in the opposite direction.

House to yard- 7 miles takes about 15mins
Work to yard- 1.5 miles takes about 5mins

I only do once a day (usually mornings) and I have an agreement with another livery that I do her horse in the am she does mine pm.
I work 6am till 9am at one job which is in the next village to the yard so I do the horses after work before I start the next job.
