to get to your yard? Am currently very lucky as takes about 7minutes to get to my yard, its 4 miles away approx....but things are a bit unsettled and I know will probably end up looking for another yard in the not too distant future....just wandered how far people travel, and how easy they manage it? Thanks

I would do a 20 minute drive I think.

Like you, mine's only round the corner - but before I moved house it was 20 mins drive away.

i'm lucky enough to have my boy's at home but this has only been since november, there used to be a lack of good yards around us so most of the time i was traveling a good 30 mins, it didn't bother me to much you just tend to get on with it closest i had them was 10 mins but it wasn't for long, i don't think i would go any longer than 30 mins.

Personally i wouldnt like to be to far away but thats because im spoilt atm since she lives on my doorstep. I just thiknit would be a pain in the arse having to drive too far especially in the cold dark mornings. would also depend on facilities and if YO or whatever could turnout in mornings. I would travel then.

Mine are roughly 30 mins away, depending on traffic as I am on a major route to the M1. I would consider moving closer to home if I could find a yard that offered the same as what I already have........

My yard is 1.5 miles away, and can take me anywhere between 5 mins and 15 mins to drive there. My house is between work and stables, so I can get changed on the way. It's nice being able to walk up as well if I want.
We're trying to move house, and will be about 10 miles away then, with a 40 min drive if traffic is slow. I think that's about the furthest I'd like to travel, and may move the horses closer if I find the travelling is too much.

Before I moved mine to my house they stayed at livery at the 'old' yard whilst I was sorting out fencing/stabling etc. It was 16 miles away and I went twice a day so it was 64 miles a day to look after them. Managed for 12 months but it was completely knackering and I was setting off at 5:30am and getting in at 8:30pm.

Glad I dont have to do that anymore ....

I did 20 - 25 mins for 18 months but a new job made me rethink and I'm now at a yard 8 - 10 mins from home. Much better. Its not just about the driving though. At new yard she can stay out overnight if she wants to so I spend less time mucking out and more time riding

I am five minutes from our yard but like you have become a little disgruntled with a few things, mainly a reduction in grazing and off road riding so I'm moving. New yard is on my way home but on a weekend it will be 20 minutes away. A bit of a pain but worth it for the improvements I'm getting

I'm in the village so it's a 3 minute walk for me.

The most I would travel is 15 - 20 mins.

Used to be a couple of villages away but now I'm in the village where I live I wouldn't want to be out of it.

I live 2.5 miles away from yard so just a few mins, It takes me 20mins in the morn to pop up and turn out and back home to get ready for work, i used to have her about 15 mins away, but wouldnt want to do that again, its so handy just to pop up etc

it takes me about 20 - 30 mins depending on traffic, which is further that i would like but horses are happy and settled and yard has what i need so i make do!!

hopefully getting my own place soon anyway!!!!!

**** crosses fingers very tightly!! ****

At one point I did 20/30 mins each way, twice a day, but found it too much even with one horse!! Now that I have 4 to look after, I am lucky in that the yard is about 5 - 10 mins away max, depending on how many buses I get stuck behind! I would move J further away to get facilities if I had to (happy where I am though), as I'm prepared to drive a bit further for him, but for the girls who only really hack out anyway I wouldn't want to do too much driving!

My yard is opposite my house!

Takes me exactly 2mins to drive there and about 3mins to run there accross the fields!

I can see both Spider and Dexter from my bedroom window!

Still not close enough though we are looking at moving this summer to a place with land

im 20mins away, about 10miles. it is too far really, but there arnt many alternatives in our neck of the woods.
i would absolutely love to see my boy from my bedroom window- one day maybe

I am 15 miles away and this can take between 25 and up to an hour if the traffic is bad coming out of London.

I do my horses 5 evening a week, but do have livery for the mornings or occasionally evening at weekends and two days they are on full livery as with my job, it can become just too much for me.

I'm 15 - 20 mins away - its 6.5 miles each way - doesnt sound far but its over horrible windy up and down lanes and I hate it!!! They have always been max a mile away and I do struggle spending an hour a day going back and forth around work and commuting.

Needless to say I am looking for somewhere closer. It wouldnt be so bad if the yard was great but its not and after having both of the yard dogs have a go at me and my two as i tried turning them out at 6am this morning I'm in a particulary bad mood about it

I'm 8 miles away, upside is it is all A road right from my door to the yard virtually, so can take me as little as 10 minutes - downside, the yard is the other side of town to my house and requires me to drive through a renowned traffic black spot during rush hour which can on a bad day take up to an hour to get through in the mornings before work - usual time though is about 30 minutes.

Have been at a yard 16 miles away before and up country lanes, which was a chore and I only did once a day and had services for the other end.

Current yard 8 miles away, 12 - 15 minutes depending on time of day and how recklessly I drive! Would go a little further for better facililtes, but wouldn't want it further than 20 mins away
