Hello

I have never posted over here before but thought this would be better over here than in the tack room.
I recently posted about my horse dizzy having all of her feet X-rayed due to a sudden lameness on her back left and being not completely sound on all four.
I wasn't there due to being at funeral and the vet told me that dizzy had very thin soles and her pedal bones were flat in all four hooves. Her remedy was for her to have remedial shoeing for the rest of her life which is something I can not afford and in my mind was covering up the problem not solving it. I posted on here and several people suggested barefoot to me. Which after some research I have decided to give a go.
A bit of history I bought dizzy 8 months ago as a rising 5yr old. When she arrived had some pretty bad napping issues and so we went down the usual checks and the dentist informed me she was actually a lot younger as she still had 4 baby teeth we also resolved the napping with a lot of physio as it was a lot of stiffness in her back that was causing the problem. I bought her back into light work with the intention of turning her away for two months in march.
That all went fine and the back shoes came off and she was turned away. About 4 weeks into that she got severe mud fever and had to come in on box rest so I bought her back into light work (literally working on balance in walk and a small amount of trot through light schooling and hacking) with out her back shoes on. The mud fever cleared up and she went back out however within one day she was hopping lame on her back left. We checked for an abscess and couldn't find anything. She had raised digital pulses in both back legs and slight swelling above the fetlock. Her left hind fetlock also kept on locking which it is still doing now occasionally.

So my farrier is back from holiday this week and he is going to review the X-rays and hopefully take her front shoes off as I believe these problems are down to the idiot who thought it was ok for her to be backed and have shoes on that young. She is then going to be turned away until november where I will then start again from scratch. I have already changed her diet over to fast fibre, micronised linseed and farriers formula and I am scrubbing her feet with just water whenever I can. My YO has kindly let me swop stables with one of her horses so dizzy will literally be 10ft from the field if she needs to come in at all and for when she comes in for her dinner and feet scrubbing everyday and I am also going to get some boots fitted if we need them. I am keeping her stable immaculate and she is on EVA matting which I am also cleaning weekly until she goes out 24/7 at the beginning of june.
I just basically wanted your guys in put as I find H&H a fantastic place for advice and knowledge. I bought this horse and I love her but if I am completely honest I should not of been so impulsive about getting back into horses and most certainly should of not wound up with a 3yr old TB for my first horse in 11yrs. However regardless of all her problems I love her and want to the best for her.
So here are the X-rays

Sorry I have no idea but really sad to hear you have having so many problems as I remember you got her about the same time as I got mine. I hope that turning her away has the desired effect, poor thing.

Ahh cheers mandwhy :) how is your lady? Yeh dizzy has been a bit of a puzzle and was in no way expecting to wind up with such a young horse but not ready to give up yet and as and when she comes right it will be so worth it!
