Ok, Tia is reputedly by Jumbo

but she was born premature and didn't grow big enough for her event owners (she was 14.3hh when they backed her!) but she has been slowly maturing. They sold her as a 3/4 year old with no paperwork as she didnt meet there expectations etc so i am dubious as to whether Tia really is by Jumbo (all this info i have from her old owner) I would quite like to know who Tia's daddy is, is there by any means i could do this?
If she's by Jumbo, all the better but I'd quite like to just trace her bloodlines a little bit

speak to your vet. Jumbo will haveDNA records available, therefore a DNA test will reveal if she is or not.
She may be, if it was a maiden mare, then the foalie will be dinky.

Gabby can't the previous owners tell you who they bought her from, or won't it be on her passport? Then you could speak to them direct.

They did tell me, but for the life of me i cannot remember! Had some difficulty with the previous owners and contacting so have just left them out of the picture. Unfortunately she was sold (illegaly!) without a passport. BTW all, she is now 15.2/3 - just a little late maturing!

Why dont you contact the British Sport Horse society or whatever they are called now!! They will be able to tell you. I think you can still register but you have to have a DNA sample. They can check against Jumbo. I think it would be worth finding out as if she is by Jumbo then shes by a good sire despite her size.

tel no. is 01732 866277

Jumbo is graded with the SHB(GB) if you contact them they will tell you what to do. Basically they will send you out a DNA kit and you get the vet to take the sample send it in and wait I believe its £40. Tel no as per Dozzie (sorry just read you said the same doh!)

Had my boy DNA tested for his sire, decided to register with BCPS. Vet took blood, sent to British Connemara Pony Society who forwarded it Weatherbys, confirmed sire and then registered with BCPS as part bred connemara - Was pretty simple, the only thing I want to do is try to confirm his mother so if anyone has any ideas about that please let me know! By the way think Vet blood sample was around £35 and then paid BCPS to get it checked.

HG - dont know about cost as ive been told by the SHB that as my foal is reg with them but has an identity document passport only I can upgrade my passport to auxillary stud book by having dna test done for a charge of £10 - because her sire has now completed the 2nd stage of the grading and become champion.
