Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give some advice, I've recently brought a Warmblood mare who is supposed to be by Weltmeyer however we have nothing about this on her passport (there is no breeding page, for her mother either) so I was just wondering if anyone could help, I looked into DNA testing but you need a sample of DNA or a Dna profile. I'm not too concerned about what her dam is currently but would love to know if her father is actually weltmeyer (as it must be possible to find/get his DNA).
So I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on who I could contact

Many thanks!

Most studbooks will have his DNA profile to compare . However with all the other parts of the puzzle missing is it really worth the cost and aggro as you may end up more likely very disappointed. Most breeders well all! would likely have made sure he was on the passport if he was the sire. You may find the truth but never be able to add him to the passport even if he is the father.

Weltmeyer is likely to have DNA on record so if you contact them they should be able to confirm it. The best way is to look on her left hind and see if there is a brand mark. if there is you just identify the registry from the top part (hannoverian will look like 2 horse heads facing outwards to form an h) then there will be a number under it which if you send to the registry along with her age and pictures of her markings will identify her full breeding if she was registered. hanoverian registry is http://en.hannoveraner.com/home/ and probably the most likely to be the one she is registered with if she is by weltmeyer.

Sadly, she hasn't got a brand mark. But have got in contact with the hanoverian society to see if they can be any help
