I have notice a little rubbed area on my horses withers. He is usually well unrugged by now or at least far less rugged than he has been during the day, he has also lost quite a bit of weight recently just at the point where he should in theory(or a normal spring) be supposed to be gaining his grass chubb.

Do you people with high withered horses use these anti rub vests and do they work for withers or do you use other devices? Obviously not pampering my horse this much before i need a bit of advice other than just stuffing him full of Easter calories and trying to beef him up a little, wouldn't want the poor boy to be sore or cold :-)

I use an old thick bandage pad, almost like a polypad thickness and material, lay it long ways on withers, put the rug on top and then fold the pad back :)

Sorry but nope, not for me! I have tried the Lycra ones, the satin lined ones, the thick ones with extra padding ... Poor little baby horse is always rubbed every winter. If anyone has a suggestion for one that does work I would love to know! :)

I noticed rub marks on my boy's withers and chest. Marks have pretty much gone and hair grown back since wearing his bossy bib.. So yes, they do work IME :)

I've tried numerous types but bossy's bibs are fantastic. I've got a very high withered TB & he used to get rubbed, sore withers & bald patches on shoulders & chest. Comfi capes are also as good & cheaper than bossy's.

I use a Bossy Bib on my high withered TB and I would recommend. He had a lycra one before but that was not so good.

My boy is looking a bit on the thin side too. It's been long old winter. I'm sure once the spring grass gets a hold he will start to look a bit better.

Ditto Bossy's Bibs. The mane guard extensions that you can get to on them are great too. Orange horse's mane has stayed put this year for the first time!

Thanks for the responses will have a look at bibs then and fingersx for nice juicy grass to come through and fatten him up a bit:).

Helloooooooooo potto, long time no speak hehe- I should have said.. I use a bossy bib for the tank and its brilliant, has lasted two winters and he wears it under every rug, sadly ripped now but will repair or buy another, tried others but they still rubbed

PS oh suggested older frontera (I had one and it was great) or pajero
