Do any of you know anyone that buys problem horses?

OP, for what it is worth, I brought a similar horse once ( a bit cold backed and had learnt how effective broncing could be). Sent him to someone to sort out and they found a suitable home for him. It ended up costing me a lot of money, but I have a clean conscience as he went to a home who understood how to manage him. They worked him hard on the ground for 3 weeks until he really understood who was in charge, before they rode him and he eventually turned into a very smart show horse.

Unfortunately the person is in Lincolnshire so probably too far away. There are lots of people who do this, but please be careful and check them out thoroughly before sending your horse to them. IMHO you have theoretically failed him by not being the right owner so its a moral duty to try and help him find the right home (sure you would anyway).

another one that has a horse and is scared of it (so it becomes a problem horse)?? sounds like the horse is fed too much, not handled enough, not turned out enough and not ridden enough so get your backside in to gear and get riding, summers coming or give up completely simples!!

Good luck with the horse - my chap had a couple of months of bucking like buggery every time we cantered - thought it was a back issue or saddle issue but just as about to book back lady and saddle fitter he just stopped - occasionally does the odd one for fun but nothing more - he could also be classed as a "problem horse" as he has bitten me twice (one ending in A&E and very amazed nurses as a massive lump on side of knee) this is dominance and I have to be very firm with him or he will try it on !! saying that he is a star and hacks alone, jumps anything - v bold - but I also have to load in a chiffney as he knows if its not on and takes the piss pulling me around !! (will load on own if leave trailer open). they all have their own characters but it does sound like the rearing and bucking could be sorted out by someone without the worry of "little people" relying on them - I have known a couple of v brave riders who when they have kids have lost all confidence - I dont blame them as they know they need to keep in one piece for the kids.
Good luck

OP if you are in Kent Jason Webb in goudhurst has a very good rep for sorting problem/difficult horses, he is quite expensive imo but it could be worth it if you would like to keep the horse

Not the most helpful advice! Yes the horse would benefit from being ridden, and more turnout, but not if its scaring the OP. Its only a problem horse to her hopefully...

Nothing wrong with admitting defeat and putting your safety first! Just a case of finding the right horse for the rider, and the right buyer for the horse. No need to give up completely!

Actually the above is both unkind and unhelpful. OP stated earlier she has a baby who must take priority and it sounds like she is trying to do the best by the horse in the circumstances... Certainly I didn't get the impression she was a numpty...

Hi, I would put him on project horse web site too. I buy problem/difficult horses as I like the challenge. I have 2 at the moment both who used to bolt for various reasons. One is now jumping affiliated and is my 2nd horse of a life time (I have been very lucky to find 2 amazing horses, first one was difficult to ride too) the other is doing dressage and has started jumping. They both had their problems to start with but are now very happy settled horses who have a long term loving home. If I was looking for another I would always look at project horses first and as long as you are honest about your horses problems I am sure you will be able to find him a lovely home. Good luck.

And who will do my other horse if i get hurt? Who will run around after my toddler if i get hurt and bath him, change him etc? My baby comes before any horse!! If i was a heartless c0w i would send him to the meat man or advertise him and let any numpty buy him, im doing the best i can!!

In reply to dozzie (i think, sorry if name is wrong) the horse your refering to was lovely, really had a bond but some stuff happened and i didnt trust the owner, it was either buy him or he goes back, and she wouldnt sell :( So hes now back with hes old owner stuck in a field....
