Do grey's have more hair or does it just seem that way?

I can't bear the thought of the impending snow storm so will be removing the hair before I get covered on a daily basis. Why do grey's seem to have more hair than other colours? I have owned a chestnut, currently have a bay and a few roans but they don't seem to have half as much hair!?!

Certainly seems that way! I used own a fully greyed-out 14.2hh pony. One year we got people in for clipping and they said that they'd never clipped that much hair off any animal!

That's ok providing your grey will allow a hunter clip ... I can do body fine, and half her neck, but not up round the top of her neck near her ears. Definitely not her head ... I'd have a very bizarre looking sports horse!

I overrugged at the start of winter, so in actual fact, although she's moulting enough to make my yard look like I've skinned ten sheep, she's not as hairy as she has been!
