Just got back from my shift at job2 - which isn't a horsey job. Today i have met all sorts of people, from the really up market types, to the down to earth sorts and everyone inbetween. Everyone has been polite and pleasant which makes the job more bearable!
Anyway, I was talking to my boss about how Newmarket was (which is my job1 and involves horses!) I was also serving a customer at the time. I'd age her early 20's. The conversation then went something like this;
Her '' Oh, horses! I love horses, I have 4 of my own ''
Me, '' That is very nice, lucky you ''
Her '' Yes, I have a thoroughbred, he used to be a race horse that raced, and I have a dartmoor pony that comes from Dartmoor, and a chestnut one that is orange in colour. ''
Me '' That is lovely''
Her '' yes, I am very lucky. I'm learning to ride the racehorse and learning to lead the pony''
I smiled and nodded politely and by then had another customer. She said goodbye and left.
It made me wander, is this a usual conversation you get when talking to someone horsey, and aside from the racehorse/TB bit, the orange in colour 'one', and learning to lead the pony?
Anyway, her age aside, she came across and nice, polite and dare I say 'sweet'.
Maybe she meant learning to ride the horse while leading the pony? Ohh, I think I totally didn't get 'it' at the time!
