Ex boss has got a few things of mine, in 4 bridle hooks and a turnout rug. She had promised me that she'd give me 'something' for them.
However, when I finished working for her last week, lets just say she was in a bad mood with me, and I got several vile text messages telling me she would dock an hours pay from me because I didn't sweep the walker clear of rain water - twas flooded, and with the heavy rain would remain flooded! I have since received my pay and indeed an hours pay has been deducted.
Nothing about my items.
What would you do, they aren't worth THAT much, maybe £8 worth of bridle hooks, and same sort of price for the turnout rug, just because it is used.
Answers please!!
 
I would be asking for the sum of the items, plus the hours deducted pay. You did you job, thus you get paid for it. No point sweeping water that won't go anywhere!
 
Is just leave it, not worth the hassle is it over £16 plus and hours wage. Karma will bite her in the backside soon anyhow. Hold head up high and move on as your the bigger person :)
 
I'd be straight on the phone to tell her you'd like to sort out either payment, or a convenient time to come and collect your stuff.

I think a TO rug is probably worth more than £8, unless its ancient and knackered!
 
If you worked the hours required, then I would have thought that she has stolen an hours pay! I do not understand why employers believe that it is ok to behave in this cavalier manner! I would be checking that my tax and NI had been paid properly. I would write asking that she pay your owed monies, both for work and for the items.
 
Personally I'd be going over with a burley dad/brother/friend to get my stuff and just leave they pay. If the bridle racks were on the wall they would be coming off it pretty sharpish.
 
ok, so far the favour is to get items/get pay for items. Would you phone, or text, write or call in? I get the impression via last text message that I would not be welcome as I 'threw it back in her face', (what that was, I'm still not sure!) and made her skin go green. (I know some people are different, and my eye sight not brilliant, but I thought she just had a pale complexion myself).!!!!
As for the price of the rug, it isn't that old or knackered, but I doubt I would get much more on ebay, and have no use for it as too big for my mare, I just want 'something' and to prove a point that if she had been kind to me, I would have let her keep it, and now I do want to prove a point in a polite grown up manner.
 
Shes just wanting to get one up on you because you have dared to leave.
I would just leave it , the cow will be wanting a reaction from you......leave her sitting there stewing!

I would ring her, and say that you wanted to discuss the items she had asked to buy from you. Find out what she proposes, and if she starts messing around, politely ask when it would be convenient to collect them.

If I were you,I'd be asking for a minimum of £20 for a turnout rug that isn't in several pieces - don't undersell it just because it doesn't fit your horse! Look on it as a way to recoup the missing pay!

Good plan, I'll have to get my brave pants on, as I'm sure she'll spit fire about it... but nowt to lose as they say. New job starts Monday!!
 
I would call, if no joy call round at your convenience with someone as witness and reclaim your items if you know that you will have access to.

Second hand turnout rugs aren't worth much no, but to replace them costs a bit so don't undersell, ditto with bridleracks, small items all add up! :)
 
She sounds like a complete bully! I would be determined to get something back from her! Burly bloke and asking for your stuff back sounds like a good way to go. I wouldn't want to get into an argument over money. Good luck whatever you decide!
 
I'd weigh up whether it was worth all the sturm and drang just for a couple of hooks and a useless (to you) rug. For me, life tends to be a bit too short to get fussed over stuff like this. Hopefully your next employer will be a little less childish.
 
Get yourself round there, everyone is more inclined to back down when confrontation is face to face. These little madams who think they can get away with an angry text message and underhand actions tend not to hold their nerve when its a polite conversation in person!

Docking an hours wage is just petty....and your kit is your kit!
