Ok well Dan's fitness is improving all the time. He is now doing 30mins of schooling or hour+ hack (but working all of hack on bit etc) several times a week. I know he is far from fit but he is getting there. Schooling wise it is predominatly trot now so hardish work and he is working softly over his back and off my hand (about blooming time).

Today worked him in the field which is all on slopes and was pleasently surprised with how well he is now going and that the canter is finally coming back as well (eg soft controlled and stepping under).

As I need to be looking for someone to loan him or possibly still thinking of sending him to a particular college/equestrian centre I thought would be good to actually get him out to come dressage to prove he still a) sound and b) able to compete.

There is some dressage this weekend at local EC about 25mins drive away and I am very very tempted I must say. On a surface both warm up and test which ideal for him in terms of the original injuries. Entries are closed and probably no space but tempted to give a call tomorrow to see if there is space to stick him in a prelim or novice.

So should I ring or should I wait till end Sept when the next local enough one is (on a surface) that I can do when he will be fitter but might have lost chance of him going to the college/EC?!

If he feels ready go for it. I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference to the College he he goes or not.

You might change your mind about sending him away though if you start competing him again....

Of course I want to jump but I don't mind the odd bit of dressage!
