Do I, Don't I? new dog

She is lovely. Do you think she is wastage from a badger baiting bred litter? Staffy x longdog? Love her, what a lucky girl.

the cross is generally bred for deer/fox and those with a touch of staff for hare, lots of lurchers have staff in them now as they have more stamina. are more biddable and a bit tougher in action.
Lurchers are not bred for badgers as you don't need speed for a badger so that is what the bigger terriers are usually used for.

I think you see too many bull lurchers to say they aren't used for badgers, the scars on them aren't got from deer. You need speed to lamp a badger with a dog in the open. I agree not for baiting, my mistake.

the scars would be from fox, seriously badgers are not fast enough to need a lurcher one of the farmers I worked for used to have a hefty old boxer that used to catch them on a regular basis and i have lived in houses that they used to come into the gardens of whilst we sat within feet of them and watched-they are also often in my horses field when i do late checks currently-they have no natural predators so are not fast (compared to the average slow dog, anything is fast compared to me)-they just bumble along.

I've seen a badger running across the horse paddock and was astonished at how fast it could run - not saying they do that often of course, but this particular one was really shifting!

She is lovely twiggy2, I'm so glad she has ended up with you :)
