Do I have the WORST liveries in britain??

Hi Christiamas, I did get what you meant. It was mentioned (between owners and I) that I wouldn't feed the ponies on a weekend morning and the owners could do it when they had ridden. Then, the next thing I knew the owners had turned up with their own feed. I will feed them on a morning and evening and it will be left completely upto the owners whether the think it right or wrong to give another feed at some point during the day?! Im not getting involved!

I have decided to give them a month and if things don't get any better (ie, how they do things in general, tying up while mounting etc) or they become a hazard to the yard and my other clients and horses I will ask them to leave.

Thankyou to everyone who has given me helpful advice! Unfortunately it seems there is always one person who has to be rude and make personal digs for there own pleasure! All I can say is think about what you say before you say it, you do not know peoples personal situations on here (unless of course you do know them well in real life). Some of Shilasdairs comments have been completely out of order and hurtfull!

Just because you are the owner of a premesis does not mean your opinion of how a horse should be kept is any more correct than a livery's opinion. Owning a stables DOES NOT make you right and them wrong. Unless their actions endanger others or cause the horse genuine suffering you should mind your own buisness. Many people are happy to let their horses run out of hay - not me personally, before you miss the point completely and start ranting about how horses are constant grazers..... - the point being that they are other people's horses and its up to them.

She said IT WAS HER OPINION!

But that way you still run the risk of the ponies being overfed!

I don't see what difference it makes whose feed it is - if the owners are going to feed after riding, then the only thing you can do to ensure that the ponies are not overfed is to feed them less at your normal feed times on those days.

If this is really all about your concern for the ponies' health and well-being, then you can compensate for the owners' extra feeds by reducing the amount of the normal feeds. You can still feed them at the normal times, just feed them a smaller amount. It really is as simple as that.

But I don't know the whole situation, and if there are other issues that are more important than concerns about over-feeding, then of course it's a different matter and I can't help.

Unfortunately, things are bound to go wrong when liveries don't trust or respect the YO, so I would not be surprised if there were other issues here.

Shut up Shilasdair! Having read through this post i find you very spiteful and rude! Stop being so nasty!

And no, I won't shut up...just because you're having a teenage tantrum

although you are quite funny

I find you silly and ill informed, but lets all be glad for diversity, huh?

Well, I hope it all works out for you and the liveries...
Perhaps as you are having problems gaining your liveries' respect and trust, it might be a good idea to get your parents more involved in their yard...then they could back you up when you are having problems and the liveries may listen more to older people?

On a DIY yard yes I'd agree with you - Rochelle has a problem in that the ponies are there on a full care basis...therefore she can be held liable in Law if anything untoward occurred as she is responsible for what happens to them if feeding becomes problematic/dangerous to the horses well being. Therefore you see how contradictory the comment "mind your own business" is, because this is her business.

Apparently not, LOL!! I read your previous post and totally agreed with you; perhaps others missed what you said.

I'm just about to

Shilasdair what is your problem with me? Why don't you just come right out and say it, because to me it goes much further than this post!!!

Where did "Get your parents more involved in their yard" come from?? You know nothing about me or my yard or my family??!! Or do you?

This for me is getting too personal and I wish you would just have the guts to come out with it!!

What happened to Ignore User anyway? We were all having a good adult discussion until you came back and tried to cause a stir!!

No problem with you, or your family, or your yard.
I assumed you were a young person who lived with their parents...apologies if this was not correct...
And as soon as you thought you were on Ignore User...you restarted the discussion....
Anyway, I hope things work out for you and your liveries - we'll have to agree to disagree about life, I guess.

Your title has a question in it, so I would assume most people would answer the question.

Over your head and dont let things get to you too much on here!

I couldn't care less if I was on ignore user or not, I made it clear to you and everyone else that I wasn't going to ignore you, because I am a grown up! You have tried in every way you can think to try and slate me on here, god knows why?

I do have the respect of my liveries, I am a young person with my own successful business, all my stables are full, I have a good reputation (people tell me they have been recommended when they ring to see if I have any vacancies). I don't need peoples respect to know if im doing my job right I just take a look at the horses in my care that all look in tip top condition and are more than happy and content, that is enough for me. Unfortunately SOME horsey people are up their own a*ses to ever dish a compliment or a thankyou so I never expect it!

Hehe thankyou, I don't let things get to me (or try not to) I just found some of shilasdairs comments inappropriate! I am more than happy to take a bit of grief but those comments were personal and not called for! I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but comments about me and my family, what have they got to do with "Do I have the worst liveries in Britain"??

At the risk of re-opening an argument, Rochelle, please go back, re-read my posts and copy and quote anywhere that I have made a personal comment against you, or your family, or called you names? The only thing I have said is that I consider it unprofessional to b**ch about paying clients on a public forum....and...well, I do. Obviously you don't...or you wouldn't have posted...so we'll have to disagree on that one..

You have told me I seem "stressed" and that I should "Have a chat wth someone before I become ill". You said I seemed "Very confused". You assumed I was young and that I lived with my parents? Wat the hell is all that about?
You have been very personal and you have been reported!

[/ QUOTE ] But you mentioned on a previous post that you lived with your parents - so I don't think it is unreasonable for Shilasdair to 'assume that'.

1. You do seem stressed by your liveries...or you wouldn't need to vent...you are best to 'nip stress in the bud' early or it can cause health problems....and working with horses is a physically stressful job too.
2. You do seem confused about what I was saying...either that or you are just trying to cause trouble, but I can't believe that's true?
3. You said you ARE young...and I thought you had posted before about living with your parents...what's the problem there? Most people do live with their parents at some point...apparently now until their 20's
shocked.gif
because of housing prices.
4. You called me offensive names...yet I'm mature enough not to play the 'victim' card constantly...with livery matters...or with forum differences of opinion.

What did I call you? I will apologise now if I have offended you, Sorry!

Thought you weren't interested in me, but it seems you have been checking my other posts to find out more about me!

This post has become too OTT and personal for me now, I haven't got the time to keep nipping back to see what the next instalment is!!

I am happy to agree to disagree on this one!

Cannot wait for you to post something on here so I can have my turn at being "Miss nasty"!!

Bye for now x

<font color="blue"> I think you genuinely misread my comments about Yard Owners as being directed at you....but if you read them carefully, you'll see that they weren't....and you say you are qualified, which is a commendable, (and relatively rare, IME) trait in a livery owner....but I'm sure we are agreed on that now....

<font color="blue"> No, but I remembered a post about a woman you teach cancelling...and I had the impression that you were quite young...which you say you are....don't confuse me any further
