Atm I do a bit of everything : unaff sj, hunter trials, hunting and just generally have lots of fun! Currently, I wear a tweed jacket with a shirt and tie for sj, but I seem like the odd one out at shows. We look smart but a bit dated 😂! I want to buy a show shirt, but do I have to wear a jacket over the top? If I look smart would it matter? Thanks ❤️

You need the judge's permission to remove your jacket. It does happen when the heat gets high - but otherwise you should plan to have to wear a jacket.

Agreed. It should always be the judges call to remove jackets. Ive been standing about to pass out before and judge took off her coat and said its a bit hot isnt it and i replied yes rather hot in a jacket. After that class she had the steward go round and tell everyone they can take them off lol

Same principals should apply. Although i have noticed lately the old traditions are not being adhered to as stricly as in previous years. Im quite alone in my tweed these days, but thats what i feel comfortable in and what i think suits my horses.

Judges decision for competitors to remove their jackets on a hot day, niot a decision to be made by a competitor. However for you to remove your jacket you should be wearing a long sleeve shirt. If you are wearing a short sleeve shirt you will normally have to continue to wear your jacket.

I thought it was only if you are wearing a sleeveless shirt that you must wear a jacket? Nothing was said about havin short sleeves at the last BS show I was at
