Do I need a Balancer with Happy Hoof Molasses Free ?

Does Happy Hoof Molasses Free have a full range of added vitamins and mineral to provide a balanced enough diet together with ad-lib hay ? Just wondering if I need a balancer too.

I don't think it's got added vitamin and minerals so you would need a balancer or supplement if you want to feed those, it should say on the back of the bag if it does but you probably need to feed tons of it to get the right amount if it does.

Yes Happy Hoof is a complete feed with added vit/mins. However, to get the recommended daily amount you need to feed at the recommended amount which is 2kg (which is 4 stubbs scoops) a day for a 400kg small horse.

You will need a balancer unless you feed the full recommended amount as TGM said. However, you can feed half the amount of balancer if you feed the 1/2 the recommended allowance of the chaff - Spillers were the ones who told me this. My boy has been on the conditioning fibre all winter and has just moved onto the Fibre Lite ready for the Spring and he’s currently on a scoop in the morning and a scoop at night so only has one cup of balancer instead of two which is more cost effective anyway with the balancer being more expensive. When I cut the chaff down, he will have two cups of balancer again.
