Do I need insurance for a young rider to ride/handle my horse?

I need some help with my youngster and a 15 year old friend of my son has offered to come up and help out. She'll help riding, handling and do some stable duties.

Do I need extra insurance to cover her, or does her mother have to arrange that for her and if so, what sort of cover do I need to ensure she gets?

Personally, I only have BHS Gold cover for my horses. I don't have any other form of cover in place. I just want to make sure both I and the girl are covered in the event of an accident or injury taking place.

I'd ask her to sort out rider insurance to be on the safe side. I'm with Petplan, it's only £6 a month.

I think you should investigate your own insurance to cover her through liability insurance.

I agree with Amymay. As she is helping you out you ought to sort out insurance - at a minimum you need 3rd party liability.
