Do I really look too big on him?

I agree with all those who say you look fine. Enjoy him.

People used to say the same about me and my 15.1 mare ArabXID/TB. I am 5'9 or 10 and my legs did sort of hang below her belly when riding long. But I bought her to back and sell as a three year old so I could afford a larger gelding. I had her 25 years and we did everything together, including hunting, dressage and driving. I even had my 6'2 OH aboard, but it did not affect the horse a bit, so why was she too small?

She was great and a lot for my 16.1 gelding to live up to!:)

You look perfect together :)

I don't know why people have to make these types of comments! I get them all the time and it really irritates me, not everyone wants to ride 16h warmbloods!! Grrrr

I think you look fine! I also think that little titchy people look silly on great big horses sometimes! ;) As long as you are both happy, who cares?!

Was it really so warm where you are that you were in a strappy top in FEBRUARY!! This weather is bonkers!! :D

You look absolutely fine!! Psssssss I got flipflops on today yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

You look perfect! I dont like to go any bigger than 15hh ish, and Im 5'9"ish and a bit overweight at the mo.
Ignore the people who say you are too big, you and your little man look brill, and very happy together!! x

You look perfect - and very fit, wish I had a stomach that flat!

You both make a stunning, well proportioned picture - and what a lovely sort of ned, the kind very hard to find;)

And yes I agree big warm bloods tend to be coming back into fashion well around here anyway... I love WBs don't get me wrong!
But I love my little quirky standardbred more ;-) x

Aching hips - hehe thank you but it must be deceiving cause I still got a bit of baby belly to lose :p and I know I shouldn't of worried about silly comments, everyone I see nowadays are all little dots on giant 17 handers ekk! Lol..
Thank god my best friend is a pony rider too:) hers is 12hh tho! I'll post a pic in a min! X

I think you look just right on him :) honestly wouldn't worry about what anyone says!

I have the opposite problem - I'm always getting told I should get something smaller!!! My boy is 17hh, I'm 5'3 and look teeny on him! I just ignore the comments and tell them where they can shove their lovely comments ;)

You look perfect on him! What a sweet looking pony too, he looks so cute! One of our polo ponies is 14.2hh and I love her, AND it means I can easily get on and off her, I have to stand on a bucket to get on the bigger ones!

Ah, I think you both look fab - and not in the slightest bit too big! I can't imagine what size of horse that person thought you should be on!

Opinions please, after a comment today basically saying I'm a bit big for my horse, it got me looking at this photo from today..

I thought I looked alright? I know I'm not a dot on an elephants backside but...?,!

Hones opinions please! Thanks.x

Fine. Lovely looking horse.

I also agree he's in quite poor condition...

this being the case i'll take him off your hands he's gorgeous :D

You look fine, I still don't understand this fascination with riding super tall horses. I prefer the stockier more robust heights.

You look great on him - I've got a 2 and a half year old NF X who is only 13.2hh at the moment. I can't wait for the comments when I break in her in next summer - they'll be told to go and stick their head where the sun doesn't shine! I'm 5'6".

Usually a strange sort of jealousy makes people make these sort of comments. Ignore them, and enjoy your horse as you want to, silently sticking two fingers up to them in your head whilst smiling sweetly. ( I find it works wonders!).

Ignore stupid comments, you both look perfect together. I also dont understand the fascination in having a big horse, unless of course you need one. I have a 14.3hh cob and a 15.1hh warmblood/tb and would not even think if having anything larger.

Your lad is gorgeous, you look perfect together, so just ignore the comment and get on with enjoying him.

You scared me then, I was thinking ahh another poor condition comment:o maybe he is worse than I see him!!
:D
I don't understand either it's always the same " why didn't you buy something more SUBSTANTIAL
"if you want to do some show jumping etc in future why not buy a 16.2?!

Yes I want to eventually do SJ with him, just unaff stuff obviously! But the turns this pony can do, well we will see who has the last laugh:D

i also dont understand the trend for riding super huge horses! further to fall plus i think it looks way more daft with a pea sitting on top of the mountain!

i think you look like the perfect size for him! and if your too big for him then im definatly too big for mine! i dont care i know he has no trouble with my weight and i much prefer bombing round on smaller horses/ponies its way more fun!

also i think people commenting on his condition are being a unfair, she wasnt asking for comments on his weight just her size! IMO his weight is right he maybe lacking top line but most are at this time of year and its hardly the end of the world especially when when hes bin out of full time work for a while!

I think you look good on him , and who ever said that comment needs to go to specsavers
But also with susie t I think she was implying muscle not weight ' but if he's been out off work that is to be expected , and will come in time

Good stuff. As you know, I now have Toby who is a 13.3 NF, and I'm 5ft 3.....already had comments from people I know accusing me of being a pony squasher...why can't people just keep their mouths shut...?

:(

You look fab together! And as for people buying big horses, my thoughts are that you should never get anything bigger than you need because: bigger horse = more food = more poo = more work and, on top of all that, more money!

What is it with people and their strange sort of jealousy? Gah! I hate that stuff so much!! I think it happens in all spheres of life.
