Do I recitfy my clipping bodge???

Afternoon peeps,

Some of you may have seen my previous post about clipping my horse for the 1st time (his and mine) resulting in a patchy, strippy horse.... well I was hoping after a couple of weeks it wouldn't look as bad, but if anything it looks worse. What do I do, I know you shouldn't clip after Jan so do I just cover it up with an exercise sheet and hope his summer coat comes through soon or do I attempt to clip him again? If it helps he is a Skewbald Gelderlander. We are not doing any showing etc this season but I am ashamed to take him on a hack at the min!!!

Oh dear, poor you! Personally I would leave it, but I am not easily embarrassed. It really will grow through soon, and as long as he is comfortable, I wouldn't worry. Unless you course you want to get in a bit more clipping practice!
 
Personally I would clip him out completely asap (if you're not sure about your own skills, get someone else to do it for you ;-) ). I clipped in February last year, and do go showing - I got comments all Spring about what a lovely coat he had! His summer coat will come through perfectly fine, and he'll look a lot more presentable rather than the risk of his stripy zebra look showing for the next couple of months... Also you can consider it excellent on-going clipper training for him!
 
I'm about to go and clip my grey pillock ... IF you know your horse will stand whilst you fix it then bash on, if they are an idiot then leave him be, it will grow out quick enough!
 
I'm yet to clip my shetland out or should that be hairy yettie like beastie - was tugging at her coat and she is not yet shedding although my other mare is ? - Go for it clip again ! well done for having a bash my first clip took four hours, my friend stood there through out holding the horse he must have been bored rigid !
 
My cob had a dodgy clip last year and I chose not re-clip....BIG MISTAKE! It grew back really patchy, she looked like a patchwork quilt and we couldn't show until the second half of the Summer.

Despite doing a much better clip this year, it's grown back so quickly that I had no choice but to reclip at the weekend as she was ridiculously sweaty, but as she had a full clip this time I'm confident it'll grow back just fine. :)
 
Go over him again. I've never found that a bad clip grows out before I lose the plot and tidy it up. Usually after 2 weeks and I wouldn't hesitate to zoom over him now. I also have a Gelderlander, though a liver chestnut one. Good choice.
 
Thanks for all your support guys....he just looks so bad I think I'm going to have to have a go if the weather is stable this weekend!

Thanks 9 tails, he is the 1st I have had experience of and besides turning into a dragon when he gets wound up seems lovely. I'v only had him since end of Nov so know idea of when his coat will come through!
