I’m a little stuck and would value opinions.
I love horses, being around them, I constantly watch videos and read about them. I find riding sometimes terrifying & exciting at the same time.
I was a beginner rider having once weekly private lessons (for around 9 months including some group lessons).
Due to work commitments & availability at the riding school, I have taken some months off, however I may have the option to return to lessons once per fortnight.

Do I? My dream is to be a competent rider, how much will I achieve realistically in fortnightly lessons?
I am 35- already felt way behind everyone else.

You will achieve a lot more in fortnightly lessons than in no lessons.

It is a lot harder learning as an adult, I think that is true of everything, but imagine the sense of achievement you will have once you get to a level of riding you are happy with.

I think the biggest question to ask is do you enjoy the lessons? If you do then go for it and just have fun, don’t worry about progress too much.

I started as a middle-aged bloke with lessons and could only get the last private lesson on fridays (due to my work hours) and that was only about every 2weeks, with the odd cancellation at weekends.
Used to feel like a right wally at the school, especially as I was older than most of the parents but you've got to start somewhere.
Got really lucky after 6 months and a friend of a friend allowed me try out their cob and then let me start a share.
I've learned much more riding and doing jobs at the yard - but if I hadn't stuck at the fortnightly school lessons I'd never have got the chance.
Do it, do it, do it! You never know where it could lead to otherwise.

Do it! I've just returned to riding, at the age of 58, after a 10 year break, I've been having half hour semi private lessons with my daughter for the last 3 months, yes progress is slow but I'm regaining my confidence and my body is getting used to using muscles it hasn't used for years, as others have said you'll learn more riding once a fortnight than not riding at all 😃
