Do keep in contact with your horses previous owners?

Captain was a dealer's personal horse before we bought him. Said dealer is a nice guy and is related to my YO's OH, he visits regularly and always goes to see "his horse" apparently he often asks about him as well, I think he regrets selling him. Still his lose was our gain.

Yep! My old horse's previous and current owner are friends on facebook as is Len's old owner :D She's been really helpful and honest and she's lovely! I also know she's friends on fb with the person she bought him from!

The two little ones no as their old owners couldn't give two hoots about them. I have been in contact with one of their breeders who was very pleased that he had a lovely home but she died shortly after.

The big ol' boy still gets visited regularly and I am still very much in touch with his old owners. They still love him dearly and only sold him to me because the ol' boy loved me more! When I was doing bits and bobs they would always get copies of the results and photos etc. Its nice that they are still so interested with out being pushy or in my face. Although they did get very excited when they saw his results and would read all the comments if it were dressage and ask questions about his training etc. Not so they could interfer but so they could follow his progress!

Yeah I have Starla's old owners on facebook, and they came to see her when she did the Tendring show which was nice. I have only ever sold two horses, one being Starla's foal who I see at least once a week as she went to a family friend where I live :)
The other I don't see anymore, but receive regular updates on him through email with the odd picture :)

Well I can't seem to get away from ColleenMissTom, if she's not on here demanding more photos then she's wanting to chat on FB or sending me texts or even turning up in the yard "on her way" to somewhere else ...:rolleyes::D She even stole one of my photos to use as her profile pic and had the nerve to chop my son's head off because she says she is only interested in the pony!!:eek::D

Two of mine came from a lovely old chap who I stayed in touch with for several years before getting a very sad phone call from his daughter to say he had died, but that he had loved hearing news about them (and the filly I bred from one of them).

I also keep in touch with the guy who bred my 2 yearlings as he only lives a few miles away.

One came from Cavan sales, so no.

One came from a local farmer (via the local sale ring) who is very annoyed that the pony is doing so well since I didn't give a lot for him.

I still send updates about my elderly retired horse to his previous owners via a mutual friend, although I don't think they are particularly interested, and I will let them know when I eventually have him pts.

Yes, my mares old owner is now my SJing instructor. It's fab :D

I'm still in touch with Goddy's old owners too, even though I no longer have him :(

I keep in touch with old owners :). I know how grateful I would be if other did the same. I even managed to find who bought Charlie (whos 20) off a mountain in Ireland as a 4 year old on facebook. She was able to send me pictures of him and he's grey so he looked like a completely different beast!

Its well worth it if you can :)

Yes I keep in touch with my boys previous owner and his new owner keeps in touch with me. Together we all know how are boy is.
Lady I brought him from got him from holland as a baby and sold to me as a 4 year old. I sold him as an 8 year old to a lovely lady. She'll always call me first if I want him back, and then his first owner is next in line before being offered elsewhere. I would love to make sure we can keep him around us for many more years to come.

But I've never kept in contact with any other of our horses homes. Maybe it's because we all found him so "special" :)
