my 18 yr old warmblood is lame and although im hoping its a strain from messing about in the field that can be easily managed with rest and some pain relief ,part of me is worried it may be more serious ie navicular as shes always been a bit pottery going downhill.she is a very light hack and had surgery on both hind suspensories about 7 years ago.she also has odd feet one is boxy and the other has to have the heel built up but she is rarely lame.she has lots of exclusions including front feet and hind legs so will have to pay for all investigations.im not prepared for her to have loads done ie anything too invasive as was really stressful for her and me with trips to newmarket, box rest etc plus daughters horse would be a nightmare without her as very attatched.vet coming tomorrow to look at her.how much of an exam can be done at home as she has not travelled for years although could if i had to.i dont want to write her off as i would be devastated but in reality financially and emotionally need to think and prepare for all options.she is out in the day very small area as would not cope being seperated from her friend.in the old days i have had x rays, nerve blocks done at home but think i would have to take her in.sorry for my ramble.she is a beautiful mare.
