My 19 yr old boy has developed arthritis in his hocks and though he is sound once he gets going, he is very sore standing and rests his bad leg as much as possible. He is now having linseed oil and a joint supplement:rolleyes: added to his feed but am wondering whether a pair of magnetic boots may help some of his soreness when he is resting in the field. Any experience of magnetic boots and whether they work?

I have a mare with trauma arthrits in her knee and looked into magnetic boots as an option but found that most could only be on 12 hours max so we opted for a magnetic ankle band that can be on 24/7 either field or stable - now can't guarantee it works but can only say I wont be taking it off and will be buying another as she seems to be totally sound. She is also on turmeric & cider vinegar and something is working well .............

In desperation, I got some magnet boots for my TBx mare, next step was pts if they didn't work, she really was hobbling on maximum dose of bute. She wore them overnight, went out reasonably sound the next morning and TROTTED in at tea-time -I couldn't believe the difference!
She wore them overnight every night for 12 hours and she would hold her foot up for me to put them on, she obviously felt the benefit.

I wrote my dissertation on magnetic therapy (comparison of heart rates in horses) there isn't any scientific back up that they are beneficial and provide positive physiological effects, the majority of the results are merely anecdotal. My research concluded magnetics were able to reduce a horses heart rate, if they have a lower heart rate then their natural body processes will find it easier to function (and heal) than when stressed. So they may be able to work in a round about way.

Having said that I still use magnetic products on my TB.

If he were to wear ones for 12 hours I would definitely put them on overnight. The few frosty cold mornings we had the other week, I really could see how stiff he was, almost a robot walking in the frost! Is there a particular brand of boot that's better as I've read the magnets vary in strength? I did see bioflow offer a 90 day performance money back guarantee and for £50, I would hope the boots slightly help!

Dunno 'bout horses but several of the old folk of the family swear by their magnet miracles.

I have some for my boy, he had a large and not very nice bump on his leg after being kicked (bef i got him) i have been taking photos to keep check on if its going down, bought him some bio magnetic wraps, in one week his bump has totally changed and is looking much better...(it had been the same size and shape since i got him end aug) i cannot believe the difference!

and after wearing the wraps a week... nothing else different

you can still see his bump but it has really gone down and I can only put it down to the wraps.

I had a pair of bio flows for my old girl and I did use it with arthritis supplements and No Bute, but I do think it helped her when she had to be stabled.
