Just wondering if many people like the idea of sharing?
Are there certain ways to go about finding sharers? (Certain sites) Asking due to having a green 14.2hh pony who I want to try share but not sure if its worth it or whether anyone would even want to put time into a young ish horse.

Hope this isn't classed as advertising, I'm genuinely curious as to how many people would share/do share/know where to put adverts if they have shared previously/where people looked for their share horse?

Any advice is very appreciated!!

I found Ellie on New Rider in the classifieds so I would say they work :)

I would put the time into a green horse but appreciate not everyone would be prepared to do that as a lot of people want something they can just hop on and go for a hack or pop over some jumps etc without having to put in any groundwork too

Were you thinking of charging?

No of course not (to charging), and he has his flatwork and jumping. Just needs someone who isn't as nervous as me to take him hacking/showing. (I haven't been to many shows)

New Rider, haven't heard of but will go have a look :) Thanks!

So New Rider, Right Equine, Equine Agents and Preloved. Ok thanks :) definately will look at those.

Can't believe I've never heard of New Rider!

Web sites like yours to share are fab for finding someone to share. Also just type in horses for loan on yahoo and that will give you more sites and then you could pop an advert up in your local tack shop.
Just be honest in your ad, I'm sure you will find someone!

I'm a sharer. Found my first when I wasn't looking in a feed merchants:o
When the owner was moving away I saw more shares advertised in preloved but ended up going with a person I found through word of mouth. Would recommend letting people know that you are looking for a sharer, its amazing who knows someone.... facebook is handy for that.

Only tack shop/feed we have is countrywide so maybe put an ad in there and will try New Rider as seems easy enough to use etc.

Wouldn't dare dream of not being honest as I wouldn't want anyone to get into something they didn't fully understand, would make me feel awful :)

I'm sure there must be plenty of people out there who are desperate to ride but just can't afford it at the moment, maybe put an advert in your local paper?

When I was younger I was always on the look out for a horse to exercise. I don't think a green horse would have put me off as long as it wasn't a complete Nutter (which I'm sure your boy isn't :) ).

Good luck in your search :D

yes Im sure there will be someone very willing to share your horse. I loan a green horse(hasnt done much at all-flatwork is a working progress!) theres no cost invloved for me now either-which means i have money for lessons and shows it great :D

I had a sharer, who now is a friend :)

Shes got her own horse and stopped sharing Mysti "techniquly" but i will be helping her with her new horse if she needs it and she helps me if i need it! :D

Wouldnt share my pony out again, Mysti really took the pee with her and has with all my friends! Shes a one person pony :p

Ahh see mine seems to just know what buttons to push with me! But with others he's been a real gem so thought it might help to stop him relating everything to me too :)

Well its nice to know that people aren't always put off by green horses/ponies :) thanks for the replies! Was there anything you put in your ad to stop too young people offering their services? I have nothing against teenagers but I think they would feel he was a very straightforward pony and get too carried away, he does have his small pony moments.

I found my boy through word of mouth too, just try and spread the word around and i'm sure you'll find someone. (Red's really green at the moment, but I find that schooling him is so rewarding - i'm sure there's others like me out there!) good luck with finding someone!

Thanks :) Word of mouth is a bit hard as we are on our own land and its just us, we occasionally go and chat to the woman down the road. I used to have more contact with people at college but as I'm not there anymore I can't say it as much!

Sounds promising from the responses though! :D
Does it sound stupid that I feel like I'm making him out to be a mental case even though I'm just trying to be as honest as possible? (And he's really not bless him!)

i dont think you're making him out to be a mental case at all :) just state on your advert something like... 'sharer wanted for my green but willing horse-confident rider needed to continue his eduaction and take him to shows. preferably over 18's (but would consider younger to the right person) No contribution required just a compitent rider to bring out his potential....any good lol? :)

I share but the owner is my best friend and has been for ten years or so. I guess I would probably look in tack shops for people advertising xx

Ahh ok, would countrywide be sort of considered a good place? We don't have a tackshop too locally apart from Solihull Riding Club which I'm not sure if they do ads or not :)

Pop an ad into warwickshire college. When I was at college a lovely lady offered me rides on her 3 ponies. we became really good friends and once I left uni I took on of hers on loan back at home with me. Not all students are novices and not all students are 16! Warwickshire has degree students many who have had to leave their horses or ponies at home due to financial reasons or alike. You may find the right person there, it's worth a go even if you do have to fend of a few novices or wannabees!

I went to Moreton Morrell so have a rough idea of the uni students now and stuff :) Haven't managed to put an ad up yet as my laptop broke and have just found this thread again after remembering :)
