I've never seen it happen.

I'm thinking about a new field share and am happy with a mixed herd of 2 or 3, however a friend to groom with is an absolute must for my horse.

all of mine are happy to groom anyone else

yes, mare and gelding and groom each other, in fact yesterday the gelding in a moment of total laziness had his head resting on the mare's butt, could see him sighing too, was in a mood cos he decided he'd play and have a stand off with the pig and wind her up (rosie, poppy doesn't 'do' horse play...the other pig, wastes eating time you see! lol) ....who decided she wasn't having any of his macho crap and had a stand off with him, made him very miffed because she wasn't playing the game and being scared of him (he's not scared of them in the slightest lol)

It's taken ages for Scout to start grooming Pandora though, he was a very isolated emotionally neddy when arrived but he's like a totally differant one now, it's nice he's finally accepting Pandora cos she LOVES interaction! LOL

geldings have had have interacted with mares no problem, Jacob was attached to Pandora since arrival, Jimmy was attached to Ella, Stam was attached to anything with 4 legs, a small selection and barring one bullying incident (when a rather large mare got too attached to Pandora and took offense that she'd rather be with Jacob - so Jacob got the brunt of her fury lol), I can't recall any issues barring that!

yep - put my boy out in his paddock this morning and one of the mares trotted over (paddocks beside each other) and they started grooming each other. they were at at for over 20mins!!

Oh, yes! We have a mixed herd, and geldings groom geldings, mares groom mares, and mares and geldings groom each other.
