Dentist said my mare has one.
I thought only stallions/geldings got them?

Yes, I was at a yard when a dentist removed one from a mare... well thats what he said. Personally I don't rate him at all, so will watch this post with interest.

My mare has canine teeth, similar, I know mares get them but its much more uncommon in mares than geldings to get either wolf teeth or canine teeth but they do get them, I am just trying to think if my mare has wolf teeth as well, think she might but cant remember! I will have to have a look again now!

my mare had her wolf teeth removed by the dentist when she was 5. They were very shallow rooted so came out easily. She has tiny canine teeth mid way between her molars and her incisors. They don't bother her at all. She is quite a macho mare, I wouldn't be surprised if she sprouts b**lls next!

It's the tushers mares arn't ment to get. Wolf teeth any horse can have.
Lucy has tushers though when i first had the dentist out he said "he's very pritty for a boy" I laughed and said "but she's a mare" "but she has male horses teeth" he replyed.
Lucy thinks she's a stallion and has a crest to prove it The vet said she must have lots of testosterone.

I have had three mares that have had them removed - so definately can get them. Have no knowledge of them being less common in mares than geldings as I have only ever had one gelding and he didn't have any!!

My mare had 2 - she had them both removed in February on dentists recco - they were giving her a lot of trouble, she had to go into vets under heavy sedation and he had lots of trouble getting them out - it was horrible.

Geldings and stallions get tushes, which are at the front some call them canine teeth. Both mares, geldings and stallions can get wolf teeth

WT are common in both Geldings and Mares - doesnt make a difference what sex they are.

Not to be confused with canines (fighting teeth) where geldings get 4 (2 uppers and 2 lowers) and mares occassionally get 2 uppers.
