Do other people sometimes feel like giving up?

Is it a regular thing that sometimes you feel like giving up horses? More often recently I just don't want to be doing them. I have a TB mare who has had problems for the three years that I have had her, and has cost me thousands in vets fees and treatment and without going into detail it looks like she's going to have to be retired despite all the blood, sweat and tears I've put in with her. I have a 14hh skewbald New forest x cob who will be 4 in May. Although she's backed, she's still too young and bum high to do much with, apart from a light hack in walk a couple of times a week. I really do feel like sending the TB off to a retirement yard if I can't find her a companion home and selling the pony. I would probably feel differently if I was on another yard, as I don't really like the one I'm at -I got there at lunchtime yesterday to bring them in as we were going out for the day to find one of the other horses kicking my TB, who now has a nice swelling on her shoulder.
There are no other yards nearby which are suitable. The only other one close by is full. I have searched and searched, but there is nothing.
Is it just me who goes through feeling like this, or are some of you others like this too, sometimes? I'm sure I'll feel differently in a few days, but right now I could give it all up for an easy life!
 
Holly Hocks i feel your pain right now. I am inbetween horses and right now i just dont know what to do.
Dont make any rash decisions and if you are feeling low about most things in life right now then get to your GP and get some help towards depression.

Oh the older horse definitely won't be PTS - I would pay for her to go on retirement livery than do that - she has a lovely quality of life and needs no bute, and looks fabulous! PTS is not an option I will consider.
 
Aww Holly, I feel your pain! I agree with Ant - don't make any rash decisions, give it a few days and see if your mood lifts. I have bipolar and sometimes loathe the thought of going to see boyo - completely irrational as I am in my element when I get there, and he does wonders for me in terms of horsey therapy!
 
I often felt like this when we were battling lameness it was totally soul destroying felt like jacking it in all the time. I also think this winter has been the final straw for a lot of people.

If you found another livery yard you would feel much better I'm sure. Have you looked on preloved, livery list notice boards at local tack shops etc? what area are you? somewhere may no somewhere.

Regarding your mare would turning away on a grass livery for 6 months help plus gives you a breather.

I did think about this, but I seem to find any grass livery! I've been given a phone number today of someone who might have some stables and a field to let, so I'll call that this week. Like you say, I think this winter has been awful. I've been looking on notice boards, but I know loads of people near me who are looking for livery and there just isn't much about.
 
I did question my sanity a few weeks ago. Time, money, effort. Mud! Water. No water. Hay. No grass. Feed bills.

Then the Dizz kicked GM, then Dizz went lame... The rest is history.

Now I have more time and money. I'd very much rather have the Dizz.
