Do people really collect that much saddle pads

Then you are going to just LOVE my latest You Tube video ' EIGHT BROWN NUMNAHS AND A DRESSAGE PAD ' .
Please also take a look at my other recent postings - I think you might particularly enjoy ' PICK OF THE DAY ' - a light hearted yet informative journey through my extensive hoof pick collection ( including a rare folding ' Pocket Pick ' circa 1983 ).
' SCOOP SCOOP HOORAY ' explores the fascinating assortment of different coloured feed scoops in my feed room and discusses , in depth , the REAL reason why they come in different sizes (I cover serious issues too ).
And finally ' WEARS THE SOAP ' - an hysterical look behind the scenes in my tackroom , at the myriad lumps of saddle soap that get left in the bottom of the tack cleaning bucket when the bar finally breaks up , and suggestions on what to do with them . If YOU have any suggestions as to what I should do with them then do please share your thoughts .
You can find me on JUST GIMMESTUFF .
( Feed back appreciated )

You can find enough hoof picks to do a journey through your collection? That's definitely worth a video. Especially if it includes a guide on finding the bvgg£r$ or even better, not losing them in the first place!

I think carving your saddle soap into little woodland creatures would be a delight. Maybe you could work with Sylvanian Families and get the treehouse for them to live in for nothing? The 1980s me would definitely be very interested in that video.

I admit I have a saddle pad problem but I use them all in rotation, same one for a week. I have around 8 in total I think...
I'm a sucker for Eskadron though and to be fair I've only ever bought one at full price.

I have now though just got my dressage saddle, oh what a shame I now need dressage pads as opposed to GP :)

I think those individuals who do become influencers or sponsored riders deserve some credit as to post so regularly and with good content is hard work as some people have mentioned before! I'd love to be one but I don't think I'm interesting enough, I don't have that many followers on my instagram page to even be considered, a lot of companies do it so you have to have some many followers etc and be on every platform.

I just bought a 2nd pad as it was on special offer (I think it was probably a colour no one else wanted!) ... it's a make that fits him really well but I still feel very guilty

My 11 year old daughter must have 15 saddle cloths (and she didn't buy a single one herself), I have no idea how we got here.

Its still all part of the amusing spiral into the equine cash pit of doom.

I think, for me anyway, saddle pads are a simple pleasure and something that adds a little personality to our get up - and I don't hate paying £30 every 2-3 months if I see one I like. Although storing them is a pain.

He wears the same tack of course, I can't be bothered to bandage, I refuse to pay £38 x 2 for multiple sets of brushing boots, he doesn't need ear bonnets, and I wear to ride whatever I grab first to put in my bag and take to work in the morning which is then covered by my air jacket anyway.

I don’t like the whole brand ambassador thing because I don’t like how brands try to make teens feel like you have to have expensive brand stuff. I now a girl that has everything le miex and has a load of saddle pads. Sadly I generally think these ambassadors are trying to make this a trend so the company benefits
I too can't bear this whole brand ambassador stuff. With so many people and organisations raising awareness for mental health issues, this sort of stuff is partly what is causing the problem. It's showing off and saying 'Look what I've got'. I understand that she's sponsored so it'd not a criticism of her personally , but a criticism if today's shallow materialistic attitudes. Indeed, I have quite a collection of saddlepads, but I've had horses for 40 years and they have all been purchased from EBay over the years and as we speak, I have 3 in the tackroom with the rest stored away. I couldn't tell you any interesting stories about them because I don't have any interesting stories about them. Crikey it's just a bit of material under the saddle. Not interesting in the slightest. I feel very sad for people who feel they have to have all the latest fashions and keep up with the Jones'. I know life is very different now but when I was young I had 1 saddlecloth that my mum crochet for me. Am I happier now with my collection of saddlecloths? Absolutely not.

I must admit that I don't get either matchy matchy or these influencers, but then I am not their target audience. I have two brown quality sheepskin half pads and I am 2 years off being 60. It is a crazy world.
It does worry me how much money is wasted on completely unnecessary stuff and for no benefit, and the pressure young people are under to "look" the part, whether it is that well known "country look" with the right boots and tweedy stuff, or your colour coordinated horsey gear.

I am intrigued by a crocheted saddle cloth!! I do some crochet and my mind is off trying to think how I would do it ....
We used to use tea towels under our saddle in the 1970s.

Just a big crochet square. It absolutely didn't work and constantly slipped, but it was all I had :-) Oh to be able to go back 40 years...

I love a Le Mieux saddle pad and the little yellow pony has 6. I'd happily buy more, but I can't justify the price, they seem to have gone up since the last time I bought one!

That Esme video happened to pop up in my suggestions yesterday (coincidence? or data mining, hmm) and I started telling the non-horsey OH about this thread/ collectable saddle pads and the look on his face when I showed him the price of some of them ? had to make sure he knew I was NOT a matchy matchy person or he's going to take back his blessing for Pony-Shopping 2021.
