We have a ShirexTB in the field behind ours, wonderful, stunning horse, and if I was ever to get a big one, I would defiantly look for one. Hope you find your perfect ned!
Until this post I never realised you rarely hear of this breed anymore!
I have a 24yr old Shire x tb and she really is my horse in a million.
Unfortunatly I had to retire her 4yrs ago due to suspensory ligament problems, and she has lived out since, all this time. I haven't sat on her for this time until yesterday (just for a picture!). I feel quite emotional as I type this, as I miss her so much and wish I could have her around, to help my kids learn about horses. She would be ideal for ride and lead.......now I've got tears!
anyway I hope you don't mind me posting a picture on your post, but here is Emma - pics from my mobile
We have a 15.2hh 5 yrs shire x tb very smart dark bay gelding, has all the makings of a very laid back horse. Just about to sell him as sadly have no time to bring him on at mo.
We had a shire X TB by Just a monarch , what a horse got to grade A very quickly, He had so much jump ,we bought him from John Simms who bred him . He sadly had a injury and then sold on for the riding club job and the girl that bought him has loads of fun 1m opens , he just not sound enough for any more. Still got a picture of him on my office wall.
I used to have a shire x tb wonderfull horse had lots of fun with him, whenever I have a wonder around horse sale sites always look at any that are advertised, I would love to find another, but they are few and far between.
My Gorgeous George is a shire x TB, he is a super boy and a real all rounder. He is very kind and gentle, but he is really funny if anything around him changes -he notices if houses get painted different colours, verges trimmed etc.!
They are definately still being bred and are still very popular. My OH used to have a Shire X holstein and currently has a shire x dartmoor - honest. he is fab
i have just bought a shire cross tb i think shes mostly shire shes 17hh and very quiet but very opinionated i would recomend them as lovely riding horses.
They breed them where I keep my horse, both the horses in my Sig are shire crosses I think they make fab allrounders. They have a shire x foal 3 weeks old called boo and she's just gorgeous
My boy is out of a shire x TB, they have both inherited the TB looks but with the extra bone. Perfect! He's like Gorgeous George in that he's a lovely gentle boy but definitely notices things around him, I suspect that's also the TB genes ;-)
