do people still event the old fashioned way?

Have read this thread with interest. I was at hexham at the weekend, and upon wandering around the lorry park, the amount of flash lorries was evident. I am sure a small portion are owned outright, and a small portion are funded by sponsers. I assume that most are on HP which is how people can afford them.
