jays getting vetted this week i hope, will i as the seller get a report of the vetting as well as the buyer, or at least told if hes fit for purpose?

You will not get a copy of the report but why not try and be there? I have recently sold my horse and the buyers had a 5 stage vetting which I was there for. It was really interesting and I made sure the vet talked me through what he was doing and his findings as he went along. We also had a chat at the end about the comments he was adding to his report and what he was going to say to the buyers on the phone. All horses will have comments of some sort and I think it is really useful to know about these in advance of speaking to the buyer about them and also you then have a chance to chat them through with the vet. If for any reason there is something that means your horse fails the vet and you end up selling it to somebody else at least then you can explain with confidence what the issue was. I hope yours passes.

thanks , i will be there, just wondered as if the seller is not told if their horse has passed or not the buyer could, if they wanted to, come up with something to try and get the price dropped etc.

I got a copy

Some vets are very secretive and arsy, but most will explain/question anything that comes up as they go along.
Remember, your horse won't actually 'pass' - it is the vets job to point out all shortcomings to the prospective buyer, nothing else.

thanks again everyone, its the first horse i have sold that someone wanted vetted, others have went to new homes without, so no idea what the standard protocol is

I've had a number of horses vetted by several different vets. Most are vetted by one local practice I recommend to buyers (they're the nearest decent equine vets who aren't mine.)

They have always mentioned - while vetting is in progress - anything they 'note' (fortunately it's always been trivial.) One buyer sent a vet I didn't know - but she was also discreetly forthcoming - and very pleasant - complimenting me on the condition and manners of the two weanlings her client was buying.

Actually the vet acts on behalf of the buyer and therefore does not have to disclose any of the points of the vetting. The vet is not being ar*y just professional!!

If I was the buyer and I was paying the bill, I wouldn't be too happy about a vet telling the seller about the vetting before me!!!
