Do stable feral cats relocate OK

We are thinking of moving and have 4 ferals living in tack room. I feed them twice a day so they are probably reasonably dependent by now. Just wondered if anybody had ever moved them and if they adapted OK. Only 1 is tame enough to handle but they trap OK as aren't the brightest. I am genuinely fond of them and I suppose if the right people came then I could leave them but wouldn't really want to.

I suspect that, like most cats, once they have moved and been confined to their new quarters for a week they will adapt and settle down, particularly as they are used to you feeding them now. You could try contacting Cats Protection for advice as they often trap and rehome ferals.

Thanks that is a good idea about CPL, they pay 50% of my neutering for the cats and are really very good. I'll phone them tomorrow. Was having a nightmare about house selling for mega-bucks to people with whippets or greyhounds!

No problem.

Trap them, move them and keep them confined for a bit whilst things get sorted, as long as they are being fed and have familiar things around them - you, smelly tack etc then they should be fine.

Cats are cats though, my Mother relocated a cat 20 miles away and it kept going 'home'. They do their own thing and if they want to go, they will.

I have feral cats re-locating themselves into my barns all the time, no idea where they come from but other than my own barn bred mogs who tend to stay close to the yard I have a floating population. They come, they go, sometimes they come back. I just feed them, no vermin here - wonderful
