Do the parents know?

God I hope so, do you not need to have a debit/credit card to register with these sort of sites?
It's not that, how do you get in touch with the parents to let find out if they do know what is being advertised, it's terrible that now a days you see that and the first thing you think is someone will end up abducting the kid or worse, or am i just paranoid.

That made my stomach turned to the extent I have emailed Preloved. Poor kid, I can understand only too well how much she wants to ride, but she has to keep safe.

She wants a 12.5hh pony??? :p

But as for do her parents know? I doubt it or they arnt horsey if they do know. The thing that worries me most is that she hasnt been taught about not giving out her details to any one on the internet.

1m 30 is about 4ft 3, my old 148cm JA pony used to fly over that with me all the time. It's not that improbable that she does do this...

i think by that advert the parents do know as the wording/spellings isn't of a 11/12yrs old i bet mum or dad helped her put the advert up.

or i just know some really dumb children :p

In fairness although I fully agree that the safety of the girl is paramount i think it is unfortunately an advertising angle gone wrong where they have tried to play on the 'innocence' of a girl desperately wanting to ride and have a horse, to pull on the heart strings and get replies.
The website does state that it does not give out email addresses or contact details but with this said it do agree that it is a bit wrong and I feel very sorry for the poor judgement on behalf of (i think) the parents :(

I've had a look and correct me if I'm wrong but all you can access is her picture, name, age and a rough location? As I understand it the website won't give out personal details so I wouldn't say she has become unsafe on the basis of this, it's less info than you could pull of a million school websites up and down the country. In my opinion the absolute worst culprit for endangering children is Facebook because they actively encourage them to add ALL their contact details, address, phone number, schools etc. and then assume that they are happy to share it with anyone with an Internet connection. You have to change all your privacy settings to keep that info from public view and then every time they add a new function you have to go on and do it again! For example did you know if you access your account from a phone all of your contacts are stored on Facebook unless you opt out? In my direct personal experience as a Teacher I know of 3 girls that have been contacted by men in a extremely explicit disgusting fashion. One of which ended up with this person following the girl and the police being involved. We frequently discuss E safety with them, but it's difficult to keep on top of it when companies such as FB make it so hard to keep private information private!

i have to admit i have reported the advert as i am concerned for the safety of an 11 year old child who could be 'lured' with the promise of a 12.5hh pony...

I mean, from an adult point of view it is obvious this child is greatly over-inflateing her own abilities, but she is putting herself at the risk of those with less then honourable intentions.

Unfortunately in this day and age you have to be safe. I really hope the parents are not aware for if they are and they allowed this, then shame on them.

12.5hh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D *sniggers* :D
i think she might of meant 1'3'' instead of 1.3m

seriously, im glad people have reported it

shes already got a pony, its in the picture! :)

haha thats what I thought, she writes better than I did or do now if it is indeed a 11yr old who put it up.

I'm with you animal, it is inappropriate to be taking the mick out of an 11yos advert.

Agreed. Anyway, 12.5 isn't such a huge mistake to make. Meaning twelve and a half hands. Not the correct way of writing it maybe, but you can see what she meant.

of course you can see want she meant I feel sad for her I was a pony mad child but was lucky enough to have parents who could afford to buy them..
