Do these things happen to you?

According to Douglas Adams (Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy) pens slip through a wormhole in space, and somewhere in another universe is a planet made entirely of pens.

I get random items disappearing without trace and have to say (out loud) Please put it back, Geoff, or I will have to spend money replacing it. Said item then appears in a place I could not have missed. Geoff is not my pet poltergeist, he is my late husband (Lost him 4 years ago) and it has happened numerous times. I find it quite comforting!!

I used to have something sharing my flat with me. It would pinch wallets, keys, pens, in fact anything you wanted urgently. One time I was plotting my journey down to a particular field (camping) in mid-Wales. Travelling alone I needed to make a short-hand list of directions to refer to very quickly. I had nearly finished and put down the paper with the hard-back book I'd been resting on to write, and the pen, on the floor while I watched the news. Programme over, I leaned over to finish the job - pen was gone. I rummaged under the chair etc but no sign of it so I picked up a pencil and carried on, finished and put it all back down on the floor to watch some more TV. At bedtime I leaned down and there was the book with the sheet of instructions of top and both pen and pencil lined up on top!! My bogart friend actually fancied a trip to Wales as it came with me and pinched my car keys. I laughed (out loud) and waved my spare key around. Later when I went to get in my sleeping bag, I found the keys right the way down at the foot of it.

As Nessa4 says, I always spoke out loud to the dratted thing and told it to give back what it had "borrowed". Luckily it didn't come with me when I moved a couple of miles away so now it just the cat which pinches things as toys.
