Do these work? Hoof soaking boots

Anyone tried? Horse has said absolutely not to buckets. Friend has a rubber wellie type one I can borrow but need to soak two feet for a decent amount of time so wondered about these or do I buy myself a matching rubber wellie and use them as a set - do they stay on well?

The first one looks like it goes further up the leg than needs to. I don't think a sensitive horse would like it.

The sock one looks OK for poulticing or protecting the hoof if it's had an abcess drained but it's not clear if it can be used for soaking.

I had wondered if the length may make them harder to get off and more spill proof

Ah yes so the one you have is the same as I can borrow off my friend so could get a second to do both together

A little more fiddly to put on the hinds, but still doable. I put them on dry then add the the liquid.

I've been on a yard that used these. Wouldn't think the horses were overly sensitive (they were, but they were really well trained too). Seemed to work fine. The owner also added the liquid after putting the boots on.

I've used ones very like these and they worked well in that they stayed in place and held the liquid well. But pony couldn't have cared less about having them on and stood in one place eating. I've a feeling they would slip or move if the horse moved around a bit or was at all bothered about having them on their legs. If I was buying again or for a different horse I'd buy the type TP uses.
 
I have the Tubbease and they do work quite well. I used them to soak with hoof disinfectant. Cleantrax I think uses Chlorine Dioxide, doesn't it? I use this stuff. It last forever. I just went to look it up and realised I last ordered in 2019.


I also have the long welly type soaking boots that are sold by Equine Podiatry supplies, but rarely use them as with the Tubbease I can just let him wander around.
 
The Shires ones now seem to come in just Small/medium/large. I always find that difficult! Does small mean Shetland and large shire or just small- large horse sizing!
Anyhow the one I can borrow so far we *think is large. Horse hasn't really got big feet.

I have to say I do like the look of the Tubbease ones as they look more secure and less clumpy though.

I had these put it on Arabi left him in the stable went indoors for a bit, came back to a chewed destroyed boot that he manged to get off.
 
I had these - not the best picture but you get the idea. I put them on and then filled with ice and water. My mare was quite feisty but she did tolerate them remarkably well.

Well I tried the shires rubber one tonight. I’m still waiting for the one I bought but borrowed one today.

I’ve had horses for (I like to say 20 years, but…) over 30 years 😱
I spend crazy money on crazy things, they have everything and more. WHY have I never bought one of these!
Absolutely brilliant! Tonight I got it on his worse foot. Just with Epsom salts for now to try. I got the side eye and slight suspicion but he stood a really decent amount of time while I did evening stables soaking his toes.

I still have my ancient cleantrax soaking boots that go all the way up the leg. I stick travelling bots over the top to keep them in place and horse looks like in idiot but they don't come off lol

I realise this is an old thread but didn’t think it worth starting a new one.

I ordered a tubbease boot. Well actually I have 2. I measured my horse to be 160mm and thought I’d also get a 170 to give me room to put a poutice underneath and use the 160mm purely to tub and use in the stable once poulticing is finished and farrier can come back.
The 160mm is so tight around the bulbs of his heels there’s no way I’d leave it on for any length of time. The 175 is too big but with a poultice, vet wrap and a thin layer of dressing it’s ok.
 
Sorry to jump on the thread but does anyone know where I can get Cleantrax soak or similar in the UK? Horse is having recurring cracks despite great nutrition so thought it might be worthwhile ruling out any bacterial nasties! But can’t find any except on dodgy looking websites 😆

I couldn’t find it anywhere. Clean trax itself
Is no longer sold in the UK
Clean It was suggested but I couldn’t find that either.
