My husband is in the army and its looking very likely we will be moving to Paderborn in Germany in April. I have two 3yos I intended to compete in the BE/BS 4yo classes in 2012, do they have equivalent classes in Germany? What are the names of the BE/BS German equivalent associations? I cant find it on the net.
Many Thanks,

Chloe

Hi,

You won't be too far from Warendorf, which is the heart of German equestrian sports (where the German Federation, the German Olympic Committee and a number of big-name riders are based; the German Olympic Committee have a fabulous cross country course where many people take their horses for schooling too!)

The German federation (only 1 for all disciplines - they don't have the distinction you have in the Uk with BD, BE etc) is the FN - this is their website: http://www.pferd-aktuell.de/
You can find all the information there but the website is only in German.

In order to compete, as a foreigner, you will need to obtain a Guest Licence authorised by the British federation and renew it every year.

Yes they do have young horse classes for all disciplines but be aware that the standards are extremely high (far higher than in the UK).

That is a great help thank you very much for that, I will take a look at the site. Will have to crack on with the 3yos if the standard is so high!
Thank you
