Do u trot past other horses?

How rude. I agree it's good manners to walk when you are passing another horse, or ask to do so.

I was riding out on a very busy road once, when 2 women chatting, riding 2 abreast...trotted quite fast past from BEHIND me....whilst cars were trying to over take me as well!!!!
I was certainly not plodding along at 0mph as my mare was a bit of a speed demon, and these women were so completely oblivious to what was going on around them!!! The car drivers were so angry, luckily not with me.

They carried on up the national speed limit road whilst my mare tried to piaffe the rest of the hack :(

In that situation it was bad manners and irresponsible of them. If you were trotting and them walking, then I think it would be ok.

We don't really come across many people when hacking, and if we do, it's always in the walking only areas so never really had any problems. Wasn't impressed on a fun ride though when loads of kids decided to canter off into the distance in sight of us, as Z wanted to follow, much to my disapproval!

I would always walk past another horse, and I would expect others to do the same!! I also keep walking until the horse is a reasonable distance away from me, I always remember once when some people walked past me, and literally once they were past me they kicked on and galloped away - was not the most fun on my then horse!!

Personally I would only ever walk past other horses - I really do not think its fair do anything else. I rode out on Saturday afternoon - first ride for a week because of the clocks going back and two idiots on ponies were riding down the track towards me and my boy which is never a problem for him - but then just has they reached us they turned their ponies round and galloped back up the track!!!!! Hence very wound up horse! How rude and thoughtless were they
