After another nasty fall and now nursing a broken arm my next horse needs to fit certain criteria and wondered if a 'wanted' ad on horsemart or quest would be a good option.
So honestly have you ever answered one or are they something you wouldn't bother with. :)

I put one up last week on Preloved and had one answer, which might just be exactly what I am looking for... going back for second viewing with my RI this week.

So I'd got to say, worth a go.
Hope your arm mends soon.

Yep - we found our first fab cob and our current boy through wanted ads. In both cases their owners were considering selling but hadn't quite decided so they hadn't been advertised. Without our wanted ads we may very well never have known they were potentially for sale!

I spent weeks browsing wanted ads when I put my horse on loan. Figured it might cut out loads of inappropriate responses. I have friends who have used them with success for buying too.

Yes we found a wonderful pony for our disabled son years ago. We were looking for something very special & Toby was that.

Yes!
I did a wanted ad when I was looking for a loan horse - i didn't think i'd get many (if any) responses as there didn't seem to be many suitable-ish ones around, but once i'd placed the wanted ad I had loads of responses!!
I suppose they're really good because you can seem 'picky' in them but people will know exactly what you're after, what you do and don't want from a horse. I was really impressed by my responses. I placed them on the free & cheapie websites at first, thinking i'd use the more expensive ones at a later date if i got nothing back - but i was happy with the amount i had! HorseHunter gave me quite a few responses. Preloved & local horsie facebook pages might be a good place to place things too?

Yes, I found my wonderful boy through a wanted add!

I went all the way to Ireland to see a response for my wanted add. He wasn't the right pony, but because I happened to be going to Ireland my instructor arranged for me to see a second pony she knew off. I bought that pony.

Had it not been for the wanted advert, I'd never have found my boy.

A slightly unconventionally sucessful wanted add, but you never know what the add might lead you to!
