Do you actually know other posters and if you do/did does it affect what you post?

Yes and yes. She's never mentioned it and I've never mentioned it to her but I'm pretty sure we both know who each other is. Not that I would otherwise lie on here or overstate my acheivements (there are very few to overstate:().

Everything about the horses they know anyway, I just wouldn't go blurting things about my personal life in a way that I might if nobody knew me...actually I probably still wouldn't say too much about my personal life:p.

I know a couple but I am pretty open about things anyway really!

There was someone I really wanted to mention a lot more in posts but held back on the off chance they had worked out how to use the internet and would recognise it!

Also when I ride other peoples horses I am careful how much I identify them on here as people get funny about that kind of thing (I guess it would be weird to find your horse has become an internet celebrity without you knowing).

I know a fair few through here always good to see friendly faces out eventing. I am careful what I post because I might want to sell the horse, it is surprising who reads the forum and a lot of the posts I dare not comment on. I only post on what vaguely interests me and I am lucky as have a great horse network so always friends I can ask stupid questions to and I know what they have done and trust their advice!

Interesting!
I didnt mean I lie, far from it in fact if anything I under estimate not exaggerate. Just that im happy to ask things here that id be embarrassed to ask a friend! (just wanted to point that out haha!)

Its the most useful internet tool I ever use and I like the fact I can be anonymous.

I know 4 people in real life but as I went to an equine college I imagine there's a fair few people I don't know about on here but know in real life!

I don't know anyone in real life but I did know dryrot via t'internet before I independently landed here. I can't tell you any more than that or I'd have to kill you tho :D

On another forum I had a private message from someone (a lurker) who had clocked me and knew me in really life and ended up being my boss. To be honest I didn't like that at all and did not admit it was me but obviously they would know it was. It has somewhat ruined the other forum for me because I don't say anything inappropriate but I just don't like the thought of being "spied" on so I don't post that much now :(

I know a few people and I wouldn't go as far as to say they were normal ;) They are fab :P

I am a chatty person and quite open so wouldn't put anything on here that wouldn't tell someone in RL generally a good rule of thumb.

It's no secret on here that I know dryrot and his emporium of fabulous highland ponies :D

I know 2 in RL, and like them both a lot. I also have several as FB friends, so probably know a little more about them than I did before (and vice versa) I don't write anything on here that I wouldn't say, although I probably make more sense on here as I think (usually) before posting.

I know a few people in real life, I also ''know of'' a few people, some of them legends in their own minds :D I also have a few as FB friends but never met them personally.
It does affect what I post, or rather IF I post, there are some posters I never reply to, because I can't be bothered with the fall out :)

I know some, and even some in real life not sure if they know it is me on here though, have to say one I know their description of lot's of things is not let's just say realistic.

I know a few people on here in real life and there's at least one I knew before coming on here but she recognised me first and I had to try to work out who she was ;)

The only time it makes a difference to me is if I feel that I'd like some unbiased help with one of my horses. I have a great support network of friends and yard owner etc but sometimes I'd like some pointers from someone with a different perspective and I'm not always sure those around me in rl would understand that. In those situations I tend to post anonymously :o

Other than that I have nothing to hide and I'm quite outspoken anyway so I just go with being me :)

I've made some lovely friends on here and if I'm honest I'd like to make some more :)

I do know the odd few (only come out when i have posted something as they know who i am) i am a recent returner after many years off and now my daughters are involved, and am proud i can pass my love of both a great sport and hobby on, there are lots i don't know and lots i have forgotten, i think it only shows we love the animals in our care and are not afraid to ask for advice if we don't know.:)
